Any nice leases within 2 hours of College Station? Looking for my family only - so 2 guns min 4 max. Deer, dove, and hogs. Water and electric would be great, but not a deal breaker. Thanks in advance.

I've been living in the area for about 25 years and can tell you that it's tough to find a place close. I got lucky a couple years ago and found a place in Milam county. I can tell you that there are some excellent opportunities in the area. Just keep looking. If I run across something I'll let you know.

Leases are really hard to find close, because most of the surrounding counties are very cut up and owned by people for their personal places.
You might find something in Robertson or Burleson County, but gotta get lucky and run into someone at the right time. The vast majority of "leases" won't ever hit the market because there aren't many available and obviously tons of people that want them.
Put in for the Somerville WMA hunts though. Not a lease, but still a good hunt.

Thanks all! I know it is a needle in a haystack, but will keep looking. How do the Somerville WMA hunts work?

The Somerville WMA is bowhunting only. I believe that they are not having the drawn hunts anymore. You have to purchase the WMA permit and that gives you access to a lot of places, not many in the area though.Check out Texas bow hunting forum, there is a thread there on the Somerville WMA with lots of good info.

Our places in Milam and Robertson counties have both came by word of mouth. Small tracts but quality and a strong deer density in those areas.

Check into huntsville and livingston Areas. Usually a few paper companies and east TX clubs have some openings. I haver lived here all my life and I can vouch that it's very tough to gain access to a property unless you know someone well. My best property got sucked up into subdivision development years ago.
