is it mandatory like the hunters safety course or is it optional? In TX it is Optional.....If hunting in Nebraska and some other states, it is mandatory....

It's a fun course as well. Unlike the regular hunters safety you get to shoot.

I took it a few years ago, they had a class out at Cinnamon Creek. It was pretty fun. I've been bowhunting since 88, and I still came away from it with a bunch of new knowledge.
Yes, it can be taken online, but it really is worth investing one weekend of your time to do.

Big, we have several courses planned for this year, a couple that haven't been 100% confirmed- one in Weatherford and one/two at CCR.
The list has a course at Lake Whitney SP late April, thats the course I'm heading up. Field day only.
There are two types of courses available. First is you do the online version of the classroom, then a 6 hour field-day ($45 total). Or the full two day course ($15 total).
I like the two day course better, but I understand everyone is short on time.
And a minor correction, Bowhunters "Education" Course. We discuss some safety issues, but it's geared more toward the "how too".
