Most of you know about PSA but apparently some of you do not from looking around the FS section here. PSA sells 2 levels of AR parts. PSA Branded which is decent to great stuff and the PTAC stuff. Anyway the last two weeks its been possible to get a complete AR minus the magazine and sight for under $500. I don't work for them just thought I would pass on a great deal to those who may be looking.

so is the PTAC stuff the cheaper brand??

PTAC is the cheaper brand. It appears to be by about $100+ for similar parts. I have a PSA upper and won't hesitate to get another.

So just cosmetic blems?

The uppers are non blem. PTAC is a no frills line. Some of them are melonited but most are just regular finish. I have not seen one that was chrome lined though. PSA sells the Blem uppers for about the same price. I had a couple of them at one point that I took apart. I still have the upper recievers and the only blem on them was the grey finish inside was spotty. The blem lowers seem to range from scuffs, finish spots, etc. I think one blem BCG popped up that was machined wrong and was obviouse. PSA took it back and replaced it as it was a non functional part.

If someone tries to sell you a PSA brand upper and the barrel isn't marked with PSA then its a PTAC upper.

PTAC from what I have heard, not read is mostly China parts..Unproven parts of unknown source and materials.

I bought a complete ptac upper a couple of months ago. I was kinda worried about it but thought I'd see what it does. It was cheap,thats why I did it. I've put about 100 rounds through it and have not had a problem. No ftfs, and with winchester 55 gr tipped varmintx bullets, I got 3/4-1" groups. I was really suprised never suspected that at all. I would buy another, if I wanted to wait ob PSA to ship it, now thats a whole different story.
