I've been hunting hogs in Texas and Oklahoma for 13 yrs now. We have been going to HUNTERS CREEK RANCH in Mount Vernon Texas the past 3 yrs. I always drive down with my group of 9other guys. This yr I thought it would be fun to fly into Dallas and drive the rest of the way. Due to other obligations I had to return early Sunday morning. So flying seemed the better option. Plus the tickets were really cheap. So 4 of us got plane tickets and 6 others opted to drive down with all our gear. Let's just say they are hunting hogs and we are still here in Nebraska. We were to hunt Friday and Saturday and return home early Sunday
Our flight was supposed to leave Thursday at 3pm...canceled not delayed.. because Dallas got 1 inch of snow. So we hurry and get rebooked..our flight leaves Friday at 5am. Wake up at 3am get to the airport on time..get to the gate and find out this flight is cancled as well due to a "door issue". Are you kidding me?? They can't fix the freaking door over night??!! They had to know about this "door issue" when they closed it up the night before!
We hurry a call customer service to try and get rebooked. No flights out again until 6pm. So that would have left us only 1 day of hunting. So we just took a refund. Major depression here. I look forward to this hog hunt more than I do deer season!

Then I start getting pictures from the guys down there..1st day totals..12 hogs down. Killing me!! Never flying out again!!! Stupid airlines!!

With aircraft operators policies these days you were lucky to get a refund.

Tis better ta be safe than sorry. sounds like rest of group haven good time, get-a-way from that cold weather, do some hog hunten spent 4days3nights in tent 18 -28° weather didn't see a hog, still had a blast. i'm postaddic yha, tis a jungle out thar. hows the ice-fishing up thar, now that sounds cooool best wishes

You're lucky it was Southwest. American would have kept your money. Oddly enough, I remember the news reporting tons of flights delayed or cancelled at D/FW, but the Southwest was running on time that day.. Hmmm....

I am driving down to Southern Oklahoma to hog hunt my ranch at the end of next month.....driving, not flying!

Unfortunately it was American that we booked with first. Then when our 1st got canceled they rebooked us on a United flight which was canceled due to a door issue. I am at least glad we got our money back from American.
The rest of the group hunted down there at HUNTERS CREEK RANCH and put the smack down on some nice pigs. I think they are bringing home 17 all together! Another successful hunt I'd say!

The good news is that they invited me to help them process all of them into breakfast sausage and brats! So, I'll get some goodies after all! What a bunch of great guys!! I'm sure they will have their fun giving me sh*t about not making it for the 1st time in 13 yrs!! Haha
