basic hunting goods/products, where do you find yourself going to more often; Bass Pro, Cabelas, Academy, Dicks, Gander Mountain, Sports Authority or somewhere else? How important is cost to you for these products?

Academy, then BPS because those are both within 5 miles of home. A lot of times if I see something I like I will take some time to surf the web on my phone to see if it is cheaper somewhere else.

As to price, when it comes to my hunting stuff I try to buy as good as I can afford.

I find myself primarily going to Academy or Dicks here in North Flower Mound (Highland Village area). The Academy was opened this last October and the Dicks is within a mile of it, so price competition is alive and well between the two.

If I need it right then, Academy, if I have time to order it, Cabela's....if shooting needs, Carter's.

We only have an Academy, if we use anything else we have to order Online. Cabelas has built a lot of new stores, they don't think Abilene deserves one, but Waco does, so Cabelas doesn't deserve my money either.

Academy because they are the only thing close to me and usually are the cheapest. If it's a gun/rifle/shotgun, I'll use either Buds Gun Shop, Academy or Carters. It just depends on who carries the item and who is cheaper. For other stuff, I'll usually buy it online from Amazon, Midway, SFA, Optics Planet, Sportsman Guide, Camera Land NY ... The free 2 day shipping and easy return policy with Amazon prime makes it my first go to place online.

Academy or Gander Mountain in Beaumont or local stores in Woodville or Kountz!!!

There are so many more Academy stores throughout the state than any of the other ones listed, so I would say Academy definitely gets a lot of our business, even though they probably don't have the best prices or inventory, I will usually start there. BPS if Academy doesn't have it, and if it's a particular item I want, I usually don't care about the price....lol

If Walmart had what I wanted I'd go there even but I hate the crowds.

other stuff, I usually shop the big stores then find it cheaper online somewhere. I'm rarely in a "I must have it now" situation.

I keep finding myself having to order online. All these stores are carrying more of their own brand and not stocking other brands in store. I understand profit but most of the time I am shopping for something specific. Twice in the last six weeks I have pulled up an item on cabelas website, it doesn't say online only, and I make the thirty minute drive to find out its not an in store item. Losing faith to say the least.

I purchased a few thousand dollars in waterfowl gear and bought 95% online at Rogers's or Mack's.

I usually start with Academy because it's closer to me and generally cheaper, and Cabelas is next. From there, the sky's the limit and more times than not I end up on Ebay and Amazon.

99% of the time I buy my hunting stuff from Academy. I usually buy my guns from our fine members of this here hunting forum.

Academy, Walmart, dicks, and then I go online, everything else it too far away, and the local mom and pop gun shop only sells new. I have found a few things in pawn shop and army surplus stores as well.

I have also found the rural Walmarts such as the one in Graham, TX to have a fairly extensive hunting section including various calibers of ammo, guns and attractants. Nice to have that while out in the bush..

Cabelas, Academy, Bass Pro and Gander Mountain in this order. I avoid Dicks at all cost.
