My last 4 hunts over 3 months, no hogs.
Just got in from a weekend of sweeping the corn off the ground under two feeders, I'd recycle it through if not for the sticks and stones.
Anyhow I looked at the 2013 hog kill thread - Month of January 242 down
This years 2014 thread through January 118.
I suspect they have relocated to ????

I see hogs in cycles. Plenty of them for a time, and then...nothing. Of course the 'nothing' times usually come after I've shot a bunch of them.

2 million hogs running rampant in texas and can't spot one? 2 million? You mean the numbers have dropped dramatically????? No wonder I am not seeing them!

Yep, 2 week ago their were a group of 15 or so at my feeder and now for the past 2 weeks their has not been 1 on the ole game cam. A matter of fact that was the only group since October.:( I have got to figure out how to be in the blind when THEY...the hogs decide to be around.

We have no other people on the land, with the exception of the cattle rancher and the 20 heads of cattle but that has NEVER effected their presence before..
We have put little to no pressure on them in the last 2 months.
To me the the numbers of encounters is at an all time low for the last 5 year period.

What has the weather been doing down there this year? Warmer than last yr.? Are the hogs staying I the woods and eating acorns and such? Just wondering if that may be part of the prob?
Looks like your weather lately has been pretty nasty with ice and snow.

At least in my area, the acorns appear to be gone based on the return of the deer to the feeder. We lose hogs and deer for much of Nov and Dec at the feeders on my place (which is covered with oaks) and when the acorns run out, the critters return to the 2" deep accumulation of sprouting corn...and that has happened. We just don't have them where I am hunting, but I know there are present in higher numbers just 15-20 minutes south of me.

We are about 30 miles NW of Llano and Hog sightings & camera hog pics have been down dramatically since early December. We are just starting to see a few again.
Make your firstshot count!

I have hogs but very rarely see them. I see a lot of tracks but seldom even get a pic on the game cams. They seem to avoid the corn feeders and I don't know why. Some of the tracks are within 50 ft of the feeders.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Dave, those are "stealth hogs." That is what we call them. They are hogs that you know to be present, but mysteriously manage to avoid being caught on cam. :-)

Also, another observation, on my patch of land the hogs rarely get above 250 lbs anymore. Its been over a year since we killed a big one but point being that 3 - 4 years ago we were killing alot of biggens.
So I am seeing less hogs and they are smaller on average.
By reading your posts - I state again, apparently I am not alone...

I thought it was just me... Pig activity has decreased dramatically.
Havent been out to the lease in a few weeks, but I really hope they have started showing back up on the cameras. Headed out there this weekend.

My Grandson got a 205 pound sow about a month ago. We tried finding it in the dark but I chickened out on that. Hunting a hog with a small Maglite isn't my idea of fun. Especially with a scoped 243.

Yeah, weird cycle here. I haven't seen a pig on ANY of my game cameras for the last two or three weeks. There is a good bit of greenery around here this year and the stock tanks are full.
Wouldn't you know it would happen when I get a new night vision toy to test out!

I have shot one huge boar this season and that's it. None at the feeder at all. This time last year I had over 20 on the ground. Talked to some other ranchers around me and same thing,, no pigs.
