Yes I thought old Jimmy was kissin' fish up in heaven there for a minute.

TYE, Sorry to be so rude to a fellow High Fencer. The majority of the low fence crowd just wish deep down that they had one or they could hunt on one. Keep telling yourself that, if it makes you feel better. You know it is true. Come out of the closet and admit it. You will feel better.

My own experiences High Fence - Corperate hunts on places ranging from 1,000 to 7,000 acres. These hunts were always pretty much the same.Go to stand. They corn the area and the game starts comming out as soon as the trucks gone.Shot one axis buck as I could still here the truck leaving. No contest but more about the experience of friends and the stories around camp. The best high fence hunt I went on was on 100 acres in rocksprings area when I took the wife and daughter on a doe hunt.Daughters first deer.I will never forget it was breaking day as my daughter and I were in the stand and we could start to see the blacbuck under the feeder. We were glassing them and I told her to get her rifle up and get on one.She seemed pretty settled in and I asked her if she was ready. She just held up her left hand and it was shacking something terrible.I chuckled and told her to put the rifle down and glass them a little longer till she could settle down. After a bit we tried again and she put a 243 round right behind one's shoulder.Proud Daddy.Wife took a beautifull axis doe and we all went home happy. Low Fence - My uncle has a ranch(250 acres) on the Sabinal River right outside of Utipia Tx,I lived on the place for 2 years back in the 80's and have hunted it over the years. There were about 4 different groups of deer living on the place and it never changed unless we'd see a strange buck during the rut.So much for free range. Also was one big flock of turkeys that roosted in the big oaks down along the river. We would see them all over the ranch and I know they would cross the river to the neighbors place to. No fence-I have hunted the national forrests all my life. The Davy Crocket growing up with my dad and mom's kinfolk first and the the Angelina Forrest after I met my wife while fishing SamRayburn with her kinfolk.I always felt like this was true hunting.By myself on the ground in the woods hunting savy deer.We are on a paper company lease down there now which I did so the wife and kids could be more comfortable and though I take my deer every year I feel the pull of the forrest calling every year and sneak off over there a few times each season. This is the only place I know the deer will travel long distances and it's usually to get to new food sources or away from hunting pressure. I really can't understand why anyone would have a problem with the way anyone hunting high'low or no fence as I have enjoyed all of my experieces and love going to new places no matter what kind of fence is around it or not. Could this HF vs LF debate be compared to someone that fishes in a lake or pond compared to the entire ocean? I know this isn't the Fishing Forum but, is it really fishing to catch red drum in Braunig Lake as compared to the Gulf of Mexico? Is that really ethical? It appears that this "captive animals" debate doesn't seem to include fish or exotics, it seems to get danced around.

The real question is this: how small does a tank have to be before it's considered high bank?

High fencing or not, we've got them confined between the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, they cannot escape.

No, it's mainly because no one gives a crap about how someone catches fish or kills livestock masquerading as "exotics". Whenever I want a chuckle I pop in on the Exotics forum-when I want real entertainment I read the exotics classifieds.

Noggy P, it would suprise me if you didn't see some exotics at some point (fallow or axis). There's been some escapees roaming the NF since Rita.

I'd shoot them just to get them gone. The hog trap idea is genius though. Lemme know if you need a trailer and colored ear tags so you can fetch a premium price for them.

Yeah i don't get the whole exoctics deal. Seems kinda lame in my opinion. Import animals. Cage them then shoot them? Maybe there is more to it.

Are you kidding? Year-round hunting, target practice, meat? They are hogs trapped in an antlered deer's body!
