I have never tried to hunt Coyotes. I going to the lease tom and would like to give it a try. How do i start to hunt them. I have shot 2 while deer hunting. There are alot around freestone we see them and hear them all the time. What kind of bait could i use to draw them in or how would i go about hunting them. Thanks for the help.

I would start with calling them. Use a rabbit distress call until you get a few stands under your belt. Wouldn't use a hand call until you practice quite a bit. I've had the best results calling in the evenings or at night. You can use a decoy but it's not necessary. It'll just get a dog or cat to focus on it's movement instead of your movement. Hope that help some and good luck.

Go to Academy or Bass Pro or some store like that and pick up 1 or 2 predator calling tapes they are about $10 each or so. If you don't have a electronic caller just use a portable jam box or something that has good volume. Play it for about 15 minutes or until a coyote shows up. then move to a different location. Cats usually take a little longer so you might wait 30 minutes to move if that interest you. Keep an eye on your downwind side also.
