As i posed up towards the beginning of the season, i don't hunt in Texas anymore but hunt in South Florida. I posted pics of a kayak that i had painted and told everybody i would update them on how the paint held up after the end of season. While i was at it i thought you guys might like to see some Florida duck hunting Pictures.

The Kayak - The paint held up extraordinarily well. The bottom lost some paint due to all of the limestone that is in the swamps in south florida but those rocks would have taken paint off of just about anything as they scrape the bottom of the boat. Paint peeled in one more area - the area where my wader boots go every time while paddling. All other paint held up and is in tact after hunting pretty hard this season. I would feel safe telling people that if they follow the steps i took ( sanding, priming, base coat and top coat of spray paint made to bond with plastics) the paint job should hold up well. Obviously i will touch it up every year but thats a small price to pay for the ease of hunting with a kayak instead of a canoe.

The duck hunting - we had a pretty good year this year, down from years passed but you won't hear me complain. My total for the year 95 ducks - 15 limits and one hunt where i was 1 short. 15 limits in 16 hunts is pretty good - we just didn't get the big ducks like we usually have. I only killed 2 big ducks this year - a mottled duck and a blackberry whistling duck. All others were teal and ringers. Here are some pictures from throughout the year.

Was able to take a mottled off of my bucket list
And a fully plumed blue wing teal that is at the taxidermist now

Thanks man - we saw gators everytime but didnt have any situations where one got within 20-30 feet unless you surprised them, which only happened once. Gator hunting is allowed where we duck hunt by permit certain times of the year, so they see us and think theyre going to die and go the other way very fast.

Didn't even read the post, just saw the pictures and saw someone mentioned alligators and figured it had to be down here in my neck of the woods.

Those are some nice looking blue wings... Congrats. I've still yet to shoot a bluewing drake that even had a decent white crescent. Let alone a fully plumed out drake.

If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready!

Thanks man - they sure are fun to shoot and hard to beat the taste of teal. They start getting their white crescent in December and by the end of the season, a good majority of them look good, with some getting their "mohawk", like the one above. Pretty stoked to get him back.

That's cool. I used to live in Florida back as a kid and got chased a few times fishing in the canals.

Haha i know that guy too! Thankfully I get to hunt in Texas and South Florida every year. Send me a PM sometime. I know those areas pretty well. Gotta love fully plumed blue wings.

I thank God for my family, my friends, my life, and ducks
