ooooohhhh I think I have a cool new project in the works..

How about a Thompson Contender pistol with a 10" threaded barrel in 300 blackout with an Aimpoint T1 on it?

Wouldn't that be stupid fun shooting subsonics for close range hunting?

I am talking with MGM barrels about making me a custom barrel and they can do it.

You could just slip it into your backpack and take it with you into a blind.

No SBR stamp needed.

What do you guys think?

Sounds interesting. I'm no expert, but I am a Contender fan, I will be following your thread closely! Might be a "need" that I didn't know I had!

But, why no SBR stamp requirement, though? Do you mean it wouldn't be needed UNTIL a suppressor was obtained for it? Is a stamp legally required for threaded barrels?

stamp needed for can only

pistol configuration, thus no SBR stamp needed

Basically I have been toying with the idea of a 300 BO SBR suppressed for a bit to go with my 6.8
I will have my tax stamps back soon I hope..

Anyways, all I really want is to be able to wack something that comes in close, and quietly.

The barrel runs 350, an action 3-350
Less than an AR15 upper and it fullfills the compact need and no SBR stamp (and wait) needed.

I have handgun hunted a bunch, a red dot on a pistol works great.
I think this could be wicked fun.

I have a G2 Contender in 300 BO with a 16" barrel topped with an EoTech that I shoot with a can and subs for pigs inside 75 yards. Sounds like unhooking a pneumatic tool from an air hose when I shoot it.

Outlaw State 220 grain expanding subs and 130 grain TSX supers.

I figured you'd run the heavies in the subs, but wasn't sure. I can hear supers hit hide with my suppressed .260, I bet you can hear that 220 sub hit like it was right next to you. Very cool!

Also check with Mike Bellm - he usually has a bunch of MGM barrels on hand ready to chamber and has talked about threading barrels also. Might get a quicker turnaround.

I would go 8" after a little more research

Though I may just build a pistol AR and SBR it later

Wow. Have we gone full circle now. The 300 BO is a 300 Whisper which started out in the Contender olatform by J. D. Jones. The whisper was priporitary so the BO was created. Check SSK industries.

Interesting how things work sometimes.

If you reload you should try the Outlaw State bullets for the 300 blackout. 220 gr. and designed to expand at sub velocities. Very quiet, accurate and they work....... Just ask the 12 pt I shot this year. They are expensive, $65 per 50, but face it, can you put a price on FUN! I use a 9 1/2 inch SBR, AR platform. I'm not sure he even knew he was shot. Walked off slowly and promptly fell over at 20 yards. Awesome fun. Most of the does at the feeder didn't even spook.

Dang, went back to check photos. The 12 pt was taken with my suppressed 300 blk 16 inch T/C encore using the Outlaw State bullets.
