I am heading to Ft Davis the friday after T-Giving and was curious if the hunting has been any good. Havent seen any posts from the area. Had an awsome time last year and hope to do as good if not better this year. Thanks.

Ok, I decided to show some of last years pics. We got hit with that crazy snow storm that hit El Paso. Made the hunt exiting. I laid in the snow for 2.5 hours waiting on the on the 10 point to get within 285 yards in order to take the shot.

The scrag 7 point, I shot at about 150 yards with him on a flat out, I'm outa here, run.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I have been busy making a new gramble. No this is strictly private land. My wifes grandad owns a 1/2 section and I am the only grandson (married into the family) that hunts. He has owned the property over 30 years and never had any cattle on it. He purchased it strictly for hunting. Unfortuneatly, this may be our last year. He is up in the years and is talking about selling it. I just can't afford what the price of land is going for in the area or I would buy it in a hart beat.

Sierra Blanca at the base of the Sierra Blanca mountain range 14,000 acres private land, and just acquired an additional 5,000 acres this morning as the owner is having mountain lion problems!

Mike, I'm a little jealous. Boy, I would love to get a cat. My first trip down to area, I went by myself. At the time, we had a small tin building(8' x 16') and I stayed in it the first night. Well, it rained that night for about an hour. The next morning, I got up, went outside to releive myself and "holy crap!" I look down in some mud beside the shack and there is a fresh cat track! I about messed my pants. To this day, I do not head out in the dark either going to the stand or to do my buisness unless I have a sidearm. That was the only time I have seen any sign of a cat on the place. I did talk to the rancher last year and he had trapped one about two weeks prior to me showing up, not more than 1/2 mile away. Before I forget, have you managed to take an elk? I wouldn't mind seeing one . Good luck to you and be safe.
