That would be a hunt to remember. Funny story about the German Shepherd kiss attack
James Madison: “Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”

Wow, what a night! Great job! If you don't mind, what NV setup were you using? I'm researching my options and leaning towards head-mounted monocular with rifle-mounted IR laser due to budget constraints. Seems the most economical way to start out? Ideally want thermal for scanning with rifle-mounted sight. Whatever you were using obviously worked well :-) This is the set up I have used for three years pvs-14, 3x magnifier, eotech, IR laser, and a luna illuminator for the really dark nights. I use a pvs-14 helmet mounted to drive and walk/scout around. I have a D-lock quick release mount from Ident Marking in Rockwall TX for the rifle so I can go quickly from the helmet to behind the eotech. The IR laser is for when Im walking or riding the ATV and run up onto a hog or coyote and do not have time to switch from the helmet. The laser is great but for me I feel more accurate using the eotech and 3x magnifier to shoot if possible. I bought all the nv stuff at a store here locally in Rockwall called Ident Markings. I actually found them on here when I first signed up on THF I dont know if there still on here or not. Im going to put up a video of some kills later tonight. I dont know where your located but if your close to the DFW area I could let you look at some of the stuff sometime just shoot me a pm.

Dang, makes me want some NV and suppressor, where you hunting, might have to invite you over for a hunt on my place sometimes if your close enough. I hunt all over the State but I live in the DFW area. I hunt a large ranch out in east Texas by Big Sandy quite a bunch. Send me a PM maybe we can meet up for a hunt. In about two weeks my thermal scope should be here I'm dying to try it out and get some video!

I went from the pvs14 4.5x and eotech to the thermal and seeing the targets is super easy in all weather conditions even rain.
But I miss the clarity and precision of the pvs14 4.5x and eotech.

The low price way is bushnell holo sight made by eotech 125.00
4.5x lens around 50.00 IR filter for pvs14 15.00
Pvs14 new 2700.00 or blem unit which will perform great 1900.00 with a few black spots.
Weapon mount for pvs14 around 30.00 used
or digital sight photon 3.5x with good ir light 750.00 total will work for shootin at night also much lower cost.

On average for the new omni VIII tubes your looking at $3500+ and the photons are a good price but they just do not compare I was so excited about them until I actually looked through one.

Here is pic from 72lp/mm tube with 4.5x $50.00 magnifier and IR 720nm filter using cell phone camera If you see under the tree no dark shadow(very light)just starlight and clouds blocked moon. Not like the digital night vision pics from shot show which looked like high noon with sun over head casting dark shadows, even gen1 works with a full moon.

This was my first Hunt on that property I was still using my 45/70 lever gun on hogs at that time. I ran out of 45/70 ammo the day before. All I had left were 55gr vmax the little buggers burst like water balloons!
