I came home about a week ago and saw these two prowling my neighborhood and thought they had just escaped from someone's backyard in town but quickly realized they didn't have collars and looked pretty poor and that someone had probably dumped them off @ my place because I am known to be a lab person in these parts and train my own dogs and just love this breed of dog period. I finally fed them because I felt so sorry for them, no dog deserves to be treated this way. They both appear to be pure lab, the black lab is male and quiet a bit larger than the yellow who is female. Their age I'm guessing is around 6 to 7 months. They both still have big puppy feet. OK I'm going to up the ante a little. I tried working them this afternoon just to see if there was anything there and the yellow female has it. I think she may be trainable for duck hunting. The black male was interested but was more interested in being petted. I think if I could get the male by himself I could wake the beast in him as well. He did go get a couple of retrieves, and he seemed more interested when I stretched out the distance. As I started working them you could tell neither had ever retrieved. I started them @ about 3 yards and before I was done I had them going after 15 to 20 yard retrieves.......

How is the yellow female with other dogs?

The yellow female is looking better all the time....I worked her again this evening and stretched her out to beyond 30 yards. She has made the connection that she gets loved on if she goes and gets the bumper and she is starting to show that dedication you see in the better bred labs.....I even got her to sit and hold on a retrieve and take the command to go get it........

We really have some good people on here, especially when it comes to caring for dogs. You guys are great.

Another big thanks to lakewaydr50. My wife and I are the lucky ones that ended up with the yellow female. We have been in the market for a lab for a while, but never really pursued anything serious. When I came across the post on here something just felt right about it, and her. The main factor in this whole deal that really blows me away is the caring generosity of lakewaydr50 and his family, and their willingness to take these pups in, and see that they ended up in good homes. My wife and I are very thankful for that and are looking forward to our future with "Georgia". Below are a few pictures we've taken over the past couple of days:
