I reload for my .308, its my hunting rifle. I bought new brass and have fired and resized it 3 times. my plan was to simply use it 3 times and then buy more. Now that components seem to be a little tougher to come by, not sure what to do. I know the rass is going to be lengthened and resizing gets tougher. I guess my question is can I get 4 out of them with out having to do a lot of trimming? ORRRR, is anyone willin to take my brass and do all the needed measuring and trimming for me, just to ease my mind? ( for a fee of course)

Thanks,
William

I have loaded 270 casings more than 3 times easy without annealing.

Are you loading max loads? If you stay mid level on your loads brass will last longer. Do you not have a trimmer?

Not sure how many cases we are talking about here, but you can buy a lee hand trimmer for around 10 bucks order from cableas and have it in 3-6 days. That is what I use on all my cases. As long as the pass visual inspection, primers fit ok and check for erosion on inside of case near case head on the shoulder of the case I would say your fine. May have issues with some cracking due to hardening of the brass that comes with working it thought. Sure someone else who knows more will chime in.

As long as the necks will size correctly and hold the bullet, you should keep reloading them. if the necks become brittle from case hardening, then you will need to anneal them, and then you'll be GTG. Shoot them until the primer pockets wear out.

What Chad said. You can still use them even if they are over max length.

too long and the case mouth can hit the front of the chamber causing a high pressure load. Ran into that many years ago with the 7mm-08. that is when I bought the first case trimmer and caliper.

They would have to be extremely long to do that in a factory chamber but it could be done I reckon.... and he could have a custom cut chamber

I currently reload .243, .270, .30-06 and .300 WM. I always get 5-6 and sometimes up to 10 reloads before I discard the brass. My .270 length is critical; It stretches the most and if I don't full-length resize and trim, I have a hard time closing the bolt...but that's my chamber in my rifle...yours may be different.

If the case gets about .010" to .015" longer than max length, the case will start to make contact to the chamber. At that point, you will need to trim them back.

I've got a old lyman hand crank trimmer. Like this one . That if you pay for shipping you can have. Or if you are just looking for someone to trim it for you. I can do it on my giruard. But you would have to order one of the shell holders for it first as I don't have one of them.
