Would you rather kill a buck that comes up a little short of your expectations or hunt through until the last of the season and face the possibility of going home without a buck? We usually take 1 buck per on our lease and use the rest of our tags on does. Everyone understands that when you shoot your buck that your buck hunting season is over and some of the guys lose interest in going to the lease after their buck is down. I would rather be selective and face the possibility of no buck killed rather than kill one that suffers from ground shrinkage.

It's not about horns to me, so I'd go 1 buck and done, or I'd forego all bucks and fill my limit with does.

I look forward to the season for so long and then even if I kill a buck the last day, it is still too short to me. I like all of the sitting in the stand, the cold, the warmup, just all of it and want to be there doing it rather than anything else. I guess that is what makes the world go round, different folks doing different things.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I'm not saying I'd be done after one kill. I am saying I would be happy with any buck I killed, but would be equally happy not killing a buck and only killing does.

Would you rather kill a giant book buck and use a pink rag to hold it in the pic and be rediculed the rest of your life being known as pinky or shoot so-so deer but never be made fun of?

I always hold out for a big one. Dont mind going home empty handed. I wait for the doe/spike season for does. The first half of the season, Im not shooting unless its a definite cull, or a really mature buck.

I've hunted for 10 years now and only taken 2 deer (both bucks). One was a mature 6 pointer and the other was a 9 I with now I would've let walk another year. Its just the way my step dad taught me to hunt. Long answer short... I'd rather go home empty.

If noone gave me a hard time here, i wouldn't think anyone cared.
Just wait till I post up my kills later in the season.

If I could have a few do overs in my life and kill a couple of deer that I did not, I would dress up in a pink tutu to have my picture made. But for a couple of do overs that are not involved with hunting, I would gladly also dress up in a pink tutu.

I hunt for meat. Doesn't matter if I kill a big buck. I usually wait until I see a big enough one to shoot, but I'm not gonna pass up a 130 hoping I can get lucky enough to get a 150 unless I've already killed my does.

My first buck I decided to shoot was an 8. That was MY personal cut off. Now my cutoff is a bigger rack (probably could be a 6 and still get bigger) until after the rut. Then I guess it kindve just depends, but I've gone seasons without shooting anything.

I could go the rest of my life, without shooting another buck! The year I shot that 160+ typical ten, Net! That hunt changed my life forever. I spent 2 ˝ years hunting THAT buck! I’m happy! Anything from this point on is “Gravy”
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

I have not shot a buck since 2004. I will kill a doe for meat, but I love to watch and wait for a big mature deer. They are harder to hunt in my opinion,so it makes it more exciting for me.

i will not kill a buck unless it is to my liking. if i dont get one that year so be it. i dont like the way deer meat tasted enough to shoot a doe. the guys on the lease do enough of that for me.

I like to shoot whatever I am given the chance to shoot. I am not in it for the horns but rather the hunt and the meat. I'm not out shooting fawns but if I see a nice buck or a doe I'll shoot one, I don't care what he scores. I think there is way to much emphasis put on rack and score.

Out on my place it's kill your does and then you get to kill a buck. I set the rules and the numbers of Mature bucks that we take. This year I'm going to let my 10 year old shoot an old buck, but every body else is going for 4 points or less. If I kill a big buck he'll have to be a dandy and on the tip top of his game and I don't think I'm going to see one of those this year. I'm in a one buck county so 3 deer and we are done. I'd rather have a freezer full of meat and 3 less deer in the field than to pass up on one just cause it was'nt big enough especially since it seems that we have an overabundance of spikes this year. After this coming weekend hopefully we'll be done for the season with maybe a couple to take after New Years. I'm really busy during the holiday season.

You go to your lease that often? That might be why you don't see many deer. You should probably leave the place alone for the most part of the year. If you think it doesn't matter the place I used to hunt the deer would come through a decent amount during the year that the guy who leased it for cattle was there all the time. The next year he hardly ever came out. No plowing, not much working cattle. The game on the place almost tripled. We saw more turkeys, more bobcats, more coyotes and more deer. If you go on a place all the time the animals remember.
