Good morning all.

Earlier in 2013 there was a post of everyone showing their AR platform/optics configuration. I cannot locate it. I want ideas. I put a Burris Fullfield II on my LE 6920 and am not happy that the rear of the scope is further back than the charging handle.

Since I was trained to put nose to rear of charging handle to get a consistent cheek weld this is quite different. Took it to the range and am having to form a "chin" weld since the scope is up so high.

Is this something I will have to get used to?

I had the same dilemma When scoping my AR-10 a while back. When mounting the scope in the traditional method, ie getting a good check weld and then moving the scope forward/backward to get a good FOV, I was unable to get my fingers on the charging handle because it ended up too far rearward. Not easily anyway. So, I just put the rear of the scope just about even with the charging handle so I could get a grip on it and then learned to adjust my cheek placement. You will get used to it. I dont have to use a "chin weld" though. Can you go with lower rings?

Not sure what kind of mount you are using but the Burris PEPR mt woks Ok and clears the charging handle. With most scopes they interfere with the charging handle action but I was able to remove the RRA handle and put in a BCM Gunfighter allowing easier access to the CH. I still have found nothing to improve my Sig 716 as yet since the sig has their own style CH.
Both my scopes are reward or the CH a little and I have grown accustom to the different cheek position. You could also replace the stock with a PRS that has an adjustable cheek area

I have to snug up to the scope just a little more than I do on a bolt action. Or, I can just cant the rifle a little, and brings the scope over to my eye.

The platform really wasn't designed for traditional optics. Look at how the military sets them up. The side charging upper changes that somewhat.
