^^^ Yeah I've always heard that, and having never shot a whitetail buck I didn't think I'd be too picky, but I figured I'd get another chance! Obviously the reason they say that is because you often don't. Going out in the morning. Gonna get me something.

He totally ran it into something the way it wanted to split at his brow. Had enough blood flow to form a solid, but thin strip between it though.

Should of shot one of the huge hogs that showed up a couple of weeks ago, should of shot one of the 20 or so turkey that showed up last week, oh well, my main new years resolution is to make better decisions! Overall pretty happy with one big wide 6 and a tender doe, especially since this was my first year on this prpoerty.

I shot my "cull" opening evening. NB, would you say he's a decent genetically inferior buck to have taken out.

He doesn't appear to be inferior to me. Just looks like he hurt his rack while in velvet. Idk what your deer are like where you hunt so maybe he is a cull in your neck of the woods. In my neck of the woods he would be a trophy any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Great buck and good job! up

^^^ I agree, the side on the left in the picture was probaly either injured in velvet or resulted from some other injury. He looks like he was trying to be a 12pt with forked G-2's. Might have made it with a wet spring next year. Still a shooter. He was mature. He does look for his hieght, so if there are better genes he'd still be a cull, just not based his asymmetry and the twist. Hopefully he knocked up some does or has a brother . There are some atypical genes there.

He wasn't injured, he just messed up that side. I'll probably run into that a lot more due to the habitat they're living in. Bobcats and snakes are having a hard enough time getting through the solid wall of Chinese Privet that is taking over the front of the property.

Got me a 3.5 year old 8pt. this morning. He's not very wide, but he's big bodied and makes me feel a lot better about passing a deer last week.

Coulda shot this guy, but I hesitated because I wanted to my son to get a shot at him. The pic is one of several of this buck at my son's blind. Another of our hunter's shot him and he looks better on the ground with more mass than this picture shows. Congrats to the hunter that did get him! There are more where he came from!

Woulda shot that doe that snuck up behind me and walked around to within 6-8 feet of me and just stared at me sarcastically if it woulda been legal in my county. Didn't get to see a live legal buck this season.

Yeah, I'm gonna' be a (censored) (censored) next year. I do my best/most enjoyable hunting the last two weeks of the season, and schedule my vacation time accordingly. This year my family and friends were VERY disorganized for some reason and loaded me up with commitments during that time. I usually get one minor inconvenience, but this season EVERYONE thought (independent of each other), "oh it's just one day, he won't mind." Well, those "just one days" added up and I barely got in the woods for one morning hunt my whole vacation. Next year: You (censored) want me at your (censored) function? (censored) let me (censored) know more than a (censored) day in advance. You want me in your (censored) wedding? Don't (censored) get (censored) married the last (censored) Saturday of (censored) deer season you (censored) (censored) (censored). If you (censored) know me that (censored) well you (censored) know (censored) (censored) well your (censored) up my (censored) deer season you (censored) (censored) (censored). Granted, I did know about the wedding well in advance and agreed to it, but thinking I'd have the rest of the time to hunt.

edited to remove a few foul words....lol
