This past weekend was a little down. I stayed home so my son and his buddy could go hunt for their 1st time without an adult. Little nerve racking but they came through it ok other than just 1 sleeping bag in the tent and 1 blanket for the both of em with the temps around 20 degrees. I do remember them lessons learned. lol I came up empty handed this year but not without the opportunity to get something. I think ive gotten to where I get more enjoyment when my son or my dad get something than when I do. I am taking my niece this weekend on her 1st hunt. Not sure if shell pull the trigger but just hoping for a good experience. Another year of memories.. Im counting down the days for next season already.. Goal next year,,, get my wife hooked!!

I only took a doe this season but had a great time without myself or anyone I know getting so much as a scratch. It's all about getting out there, having fun, and being able to get back home safely.

I was telling my wife (sons stepmom) this weekend how ive watched him grow up during deer season. When he was young he would be right on my heels and sit with me asking when were leaving if we didn't see anything soon,, a little older and hed be walking behind me a little farther and sitting longer,, early teens hed sit by himself but usually not long and be texting me bout 9 when are we leaving. then as hes gotten older ive noticed hes walking beside me or in front,, stays in the stand longer and is up earlier and looking for his place on the property to hunt that i didn't set up. this past weekend he went with a bud and i stayed home.. just cause i remember how i felt when i went alone with a friend. Its exciting for me and a little sad at the same time. Im getting soft as i get older i guess. I sure didn't notice these things growing up hunting with my dad,, betting he did though.

if you got 1 every time you went it wouldnt be any fun. besides that would be killing not hunting, time spent hunting with friends and family is the fun part.

Good deal jeswes. Just being out there does it for me. If you can kill something that's just icing on the cake.
