Awesome! I know that guy too and I wonder where it was taken in GC. You know DM? He's rather infamous around those parts. Get him to show you the video he took of a monster buck that he videoed off Hwy 84 some years back. In a very bizarre quirk of fate, he happened to kill that deer two days later. I'd love to see his recounting of that story posted. Thanks everyone for the congrats! I had been watching this buck for 3 years. He was legally taken with a bow and was a free ranging Grayson County buck. Everyone who knows me knows how seriously I take bow hunting and how hard I work at that craft. As for the quote above. I did have some great video of a great buck on Hwy 84 in Grayson county. That is the end of the truth in the quote. I hunted a Buck I dubbed Bullwinkle for 4 years. The video he is referring to was taken in 2000. I harvested him in Nov of 2002, 2 years not 2 days after the video. Just wanted to set the story straight. Thanks again for all the positive comments. He was a true lye amazing animal and I am honored to have taken him. Dale Moses Hell of a deer, I want to know what you where feeling and thinking the second you touched the release!!!@

I almost hope nothing that big gives me a shot, I'm liable to wake up hanging from my harness, after I passed out

well guess that gene goes all the way up the I -35 to kansas also.
Even half Canadian deer have never done well in texas, even in pens.
Lets make it simpler Red coats vs grey coats..... There are big bucks in north Texas and big bucks in south Texas. Following your model, there should be a solid line of big bucks between them; all swimming in the same pool. I don't know a thing about Canadian deer. But deer from Minnesota and the Dakotas do quite well here. People have been shipping them down here longer than you or I have been alive. Bear in mind, you don't have to. Ring new deer down every year. When a percentage of a group of them does well, each generation they produce will (should) do better.
Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent.

Neither Collin, Cooke, Denton, or Dallas Counties will consistently produce what Grayson does every year. There will be a true giant or two that comes from Grayson every year with several Booners to follow. Its the little secluded pockets that produce too, not vast ranches. The doctors, lawyers, and other well to do people have most of the prime spots sewed as well so don't even waste your time. You hit that nail square on the head.

BOBO the Clown...It was kinda strange when he came in on me. I had 9 does plus an 150" 10 point around me. They all disappeared at one point. A calm focus came over me because I knew it was about to happen. I checked my sight yardage, made sure my peep was turned, and adjusted my arm guard, and got in position to make the shot in the direction I thought they would come from. Also went over my shot sequence (draw, anchor, sight picture, pick a spot, pull through the release, and follow through).

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

I just hope I can stay that calm headed when I get that opportunity some day.

Re: 100 breeder bucks...
The genetic Mecca centers on the eastern end of Lake Texoma. I have never seen a deer from Collin or Denton Counties that even remotely resembles the Texoma genes. Yes, there are a few big bucks in those counties but they look nothing like the Texoma deer. North very far into Oklahoma is the same story. Some big bucks but not the same genes. The farther you get from Big Mineral, the more notable the changes. Deer breeders have been operating in that area from the 1930s right up today. There are so many breeders around that lake now that you probably can't even count them.
And we aren't talking about 100 breeder bucks. We are talking about thousands of them breeding and spreading out for over 80 years. I feel pretty confident that if you can find the people that know, they'll tell you the Texoma deer herd is rooted in the subspecies O. v. dacotensis; not to be confused with O. v. virginianus.
But of course, I could be wrong. well guess that gene goes all the way up the I -35 to kansas also. Even half Canadian deer have never done well in texas, even in pens. Lets make it simpler Red coats vs grey coats..... Now Bobo..you know that area got stocked solid with KS deer after the native deer got wiped out.
