Whats wrong with the 60 that needs refurbishing? Or are you just wanting to refinish the stock and bluing to make it look different?

You can buy stocks for the 60 from Boyds, and it should be dove tailed so you can attach any kind of optic you want.

Both are good rifles and have good market for resale.

nothing is really wrong with it, it cycles and shoots flawlessly. i wanted to clean it up, and change up the looks. my question was if i should just buy a 10/22, or stick with my upgraded 60.

I own both, and I don't think either rifle is better than the other. They both have pros and cons. Folks like to "pimp" out Ruger 10/22s, but it is really expensive once you replace the barrel, stock, trigger group, add nice optics, and add an extended mag release.

You could buy some duracoat and cheap air brush, and really add some flair to your model 60. You can also choose from several styles of stocks available fom Boyds(including thumb hole). You can do this cheaper than buying a 10/22.

i own both, i prefer the 10/22, it feels shorter and handier and has a better trigger, i dont see the point in spending a bunch of money on a $150 gun that works well from the factory..

If you just want a gloss black, you can buy Appliance Epoxy in Aerosol cans from box stores like walmart.

They are very durable once baked to fully cure the paint.
