Are layout blinds mainly for geese hunters in the field or can you also use them for duck hunting from the shore.

Use them for what ever. The bigger layout boats are made for water http://www.bfolayouts.com/

Oops you said layout blind not boat, I'm a dumb clown. You can use them in shallow water also depending on the blind make, can always put pallets out and put blind on pallet

75% of my duck hunts this year have been in layout blinds. They work great in a large variety of situations, really opening up a lot of places without having to worry about concealment

Plus if it's slow you can catch up on some sleep.

Plus if it's slow you can catch up on some sleep. Ive mastered a "half sleep" that I can come out of with wing beats, kazooing in the distance or a "here we go".

I like my FA eliminator express. Light weight easy to take down and folds up with backpack straps. I love it but it's the only layout I have ever owned or used., so others may be better. I am happy with mine though.

Borrowed a friends Cabela's mobile 1 earlier in the season for ducks and loved it! Santa brought me my own. You can hunt anywhere with it. They are low and warm. I tried to mud mine up out of the box but it wouldn't stick to it. Bought some flat spray paint and lightly painted it to dull the shine. Looks great now.
