Game warden was bow hunting and got shot by someone at about 6:00 pm last night at Cooper Lake.

What?! I just saw him Saturday. Don't know him well, but dang. Was it an accident?

No word yet on accident or not, I guess they will release that info later, if they have it.
Sunset was 5:35 so he was probably walking out and someone may have thought he was a deer possibly, they have not releashed the details yet.

Sounds like he's still alive, and was not identifiable as a game warden at the time.

I'm betting there's a family that still needs a lot of prayers. Hoping that the guy who did it steps forward.

People these days will shoot at just about anything that moves.. Sad deal and hope they catch the shooter. Prayers sent !!

He is going to make it, he got out of surgery at Parkland. He was shot with a 308 that went thru his chest and didn't hit major organs. Looks like it was a couple of 18 year old kids that were target shooting. I imagine there will be charges filed.

2 people have been arrested in connection with the shooting

18 and 21 yr olds visiting from out of state, game warden was bow hunting, went to check on rifle shots on state property ,was shot in the chest. One kid charged and the other charged with not rendering aid. Latest a buddy informed me from cooper.

Sounds like those two from Illinois will be making an extended stay in Texas. What an unconscionable thing to do: shoot someone and leave them without providing aid or at least calling for assistance. If these hold up as the facts of the case, I hope they see some real time in prison for their actions.

He was shot about a half a mile from my house. The access road going down to where he was hunting can be seen from my back door. It really freaked me out when a dozen or so law enforcement vehicles turned down that road with siren and lights going full tilt......Don't have the link but NBC 5 has the story.
