On Thursday morning I went after some mallards that I had found on Tuesday. With Christmas being on Wednesday, I had to wait to get after those birds until Thursday bang

Thursday morning brought low 20 degree temps and a frozen body of water. I spent about 30 minutes breaking ice and getting a landing hole opened up. With motion decoys in both open holes and keeping the ice from building, I was confident in the area. 5 minutes before LST there was around 20 mallards on the ice, walking around for a minute or so before flying off. The rest of the morning brought numerous flocks working the area, but just not coming into range. I scratched out 3 greenheads before calling it a morning at 10am

A few pics from the morning

Saturday morning I took my brother out after some more mallards! the action was fast for about 30 minutes then slowly died off. We ended the hunt with 9 birds, just never could get that 10th bird to fill our limit. A few opportunities were there to finish the limit, but my shooting just wasn't up to par.
