My first thought was she was hit by a car but I am down a dirt road 4 miles from a major road. Sent the picture to my dad he said looks like a coyote got her to him. Wanted to get some thoughts from you guys. This is the only pic I have of her. At the ranch now and gonna put her down if we see her.

We've got a buck on our place with similar wounds, but a ton more meat missing. I posted the pics here awhile back. I'm not sure if that's the same type of wound or not. We are south of Baird.

I have seen wounds made by bucks when they hook another deer in the shoulder or hindquarter similar to this. The wound is a long ways from her heart. She is eating and otherwise looks healthy. If she was feverish she will go to water to help with the fever from infection. Winter time means cooler weather and less flies so the chances of survival are very good.

She's walking so it isn't stopping her from food and water, she should be okay.

Coyotes and then the bobcats cleaned her up. My son and I found her half eaten this morning behind one of my feeders. You could see where a few coyotes got after her then bobcats had drug hunks of her under some brush to eat

The back half of the doe was still intact.. The bite mark you see above was on this doe as well and in the same portion of the leg. The bite looked to be about a week old though.. Where we found her was in a bedding area that is back behind one of my feeders. I am assuming she bedded down then was attacked again..

Reinforces my desire to ground check every coyote I see, even when deer hunting. Suppressors are soooo handy!
