Any reports? How was the hunting? Thinking about heading up to Bois D'Arc tomorrow morning.

From what I've seen on this thread it sounds like the style of rifle hunting up there is spot and stalk.. is that correct? Or has anyone had or heard of anyone having success using pop-up/fabricated blinds?

Nothing to see at the Ladonia unit ! Bonham unit is the Place to hunt ! Agreed. Unless you are REALLY local and have time to thoroughly scout all of the Ladonia areas, it's a waste of time. I haven't been up to the other unit in years though, so can't comment on that.

Was up in Bonham this past weekend. Saw lots of Does and few tiny basket racks but nothing legal to shoot. I did however stumble across a huge bucks trails. I was just a tad to far behind him to find him. I sat at the same spot his tracks were for two days and no sign of him. His tracks were as big as my hand. Wish I would have seen him. I did see some skunks, Bobcat, and few rabbits so I know Im in a better spot then the past. Not much time left to get this big boy so I need to hurry up and get him before someone else does.

Man, Bowtieguy, you must be in a completely different part of the grasslands than I've been rifle-hiking. I've been up a couple times this season and haven't seen squat! Shoot me a PM if you can recommend a unit.

Its really hard to recommend a unit. You just have to do some good long hard scouting and keep your eyes out for good tracks and signs of movement. I talked to a bunch of locals. I went into town and sat and had a nice late night dinner and just striked up convos with people hanging out. So of the people you need to watch out for cause they will lead you on a wild goose chase but some will be honest and help you out. The morning of my hunt I just spot stalked and took my pop up with me just in case. Once I found me some good signs I posted up and sat it out for the long haul. Had plenty of snacks and a ipod to keep me busy. Other than that theres not much help I can provide its a hit and miss kind of place. I have put a lot of time in up there and this is the most activity I have seen. Good luck. Time to get out the ole bow and hit it hard again.
