I will join the ranks of those looking for a 2014 lease. We are a group of 4 guys. We are looking to be 3hrs or less from the DFW area. We are currently on a place around Abilene, but there has been a great deal of pressure and the landowner is working on clearing all the cover. Those two things do not go together real well. We would like to have a place we can utilize year round and be in the $1800/gun range. We can likely add guns to occupy a larger property if needed.

The state (forget which agency) usually has a state wide directory, broken down by county, of folks who are wanting to lease their property for hunting. It is produced annually and used to be free, don't know anymore...Lease prices are usually listed, so you can kind of shop around...I have used it once a long time ago, and got a really good lease relatively inexpensively.

I will pass on throwing anyone's name out. The landowners are good folks and I am not suggesting they did anything wrong. We as the lessees should have been more thorough upfront when we leased the property. Not sure that throwing their names out really benefits anyone.
