I'm considering purchasing one as a first hunting rifle for a petit 9 year old female but am curious how they hunt. I've read many reviews but none mention recoil or consistency from such a small/light package. Any experience would be appreciated.

I got my small framed then 9 yr old a Mossberg youth model .243 I put a slip on kick pad . He had no problems with it... It groups really well and its a short barrelled , compact rifle.. can't tell u about the axis but size and recoil shouldn't be an issue..

I bought one of those packages for my youngest son a few years ago and he is still using it. Shoots fine, little recoil, a good value in my opinion.

One thing is the trigger pull is pretty stout for a youngster. I recently dropped a timney trigger in it... Should have done that a lot sooner. Very nice! I am thinking about keeping it as a truck gun.

Yelp on the trigger I sighted a 25-06 in for a buddy. Ran a box of ammo through it to break in and groups shrunk to 1.5"

Pretty impressed for a such a budget gun. Trigger is my only complaint.

243 will be fine for the kids. Good hear protection and they will be good to go. I think the sound scares them more then kick
