you can tell its a roost because the birds fly there around sundown

Personally I've had a lot better hunts in the afternoon and evening because of hunting around the roost areas and there aren't as many hunters out. If it's legal to hunt all day, why not? it's public.

I don't always shoot deer, but when I do, I prefer B&C's.

Seems to be the case Enright.... Someone on her told me not to by a call a year in advance before I used it in the field. With proper advice and research and practice I've been calling birds up and only had one three weeks.... I went from a double reed quack head to an echo single reed in two days... And to think the majority told me to buy a whistle smirk .... I respect all hunting and just trying to do what's right and thts why I asked about busting up roosting birds and how are you supposed to hunt them in the am without messing it up for the roosters in the evening again....

The roost and the feeding spots are usually different places. They leave the roost a few minutes before lst and come back right before or at dark.

The law states what legal shooting hours are. If you are using a legal means, during a legal season, with a valid license during legal shooting hours then if others don't like it who cares?

As it was once said you are more than entitled to your opinion and your beliefs but you are not entitled to your own facts. Fact is evening hunting is very legal and hunters have been doing for a loooong time and guess what being rude and insulting on a free public forum isn't going to change that.

Just because you wouldn't do it does NOT make it wrong for someone else to do it.

Contrary to popular belief most ducks migrate at night. Most migrators fly throughout the night until about noon. Noon is when most flight birds hit the big water or food source. So hunting in the evening does relatively no harm unless your hunting an old batch of birds.

Selfish much, lol

Isn't that selfish of you to say that?

In this post he states the reason why he can not hunt this particular morning. However, as a general question about hunting evenings, it is entirely up to the hunter. Perhaps that is the only time one can hunt. Hypothetically if your job had you busy during morning hunts, should you just give up duck hunting?

I am all for letting the ducks rest and working with my fellow hunter but telling someone they shouldn't hunt the afternoons because it will negatively affect their own hunting, isn't that the very definition of selfish?Besides, we are talking about "PUBLIC" land.

Scout when you can. Hunt when you can. If you want to control hunting areas, buy or lease your own.

happy3 Very well put!

Ducky-e-doo nailed it...scout when you can. Hunt when you can.

The need for meat for my freezer out-ranks the "topwater" of hunting a roost.
I rotate my hunting spots, just like those private guys do. I also work hard. Yesterday was a 1.5 mile wade/walk to get to my spot.
There's a reason why I have 8 different spots that I hunt...
