NO! I would say 90% of them don't say Sendero anywhere on the gun.

I have a blue fluted 300 win and a stainless fluted 308. Both have a 26" bbl and the 300 is stamped Sendero, the 308 is not. When I called Remington with the serial #'s, the rep told me that the actual Sendero models are stamped Sendero. My 308 is the VSSF model. Not sure if that's 100% true, that's just what the rep told me.

That maybe what the rep told you but I can 100% without a doubt tell you that is not the case. There are thousands and thousands of Senderos out there that say Sendero on the box they come in but it was not stamped on the gun. Like I said probably 9 out of 10 Senderos I see are not stamped and yes they are in fact Senderos with Sendero being printed right there on the box they come in with matching serial numbers.

I don't doubt that your 308 is a VSSF because they never made a Sendero in 308 to begin with. Only short action calibers the Sendero was ever made in was the SAUM's and those are pretty darn scarce.

I have an original Sendero heavy blued barrel in 7mm and it is marked "Sendero." I used to own a stainless/fluted Sendero in 300 Ultra and it was also marked "Sendero."

It was my understanding that only LA models were actual Senderos.

Thanks for all of the input guys! I'm going to go pick the gun up tomorrow, regardless if it's an actual sendero or not. I'll give remington a call after I get it and let you know what they say.

My sender has sendero written on the side of it. I think all the ones which don't have it written on them may just be a product of the senderos popularity and people wanting to sell the name... especially when according to Remington if it doesn't say it on the gun then its not.

I myself have the Sendero SFII in 25-06. And I can tell you that my gun does not have "Sendero" stamped on the gun. But the box with matching serial number on a white label with black writing said "Sendero SFII 25-06"

I kept the box for a few years incase I decided to sell it I could show the next buyer and give them all its contents. I later decided that this gun will go to one of my kids when I'm lone gone from this ol earth. Its just too good of a shooter and too nice to not hand it down to my kids.

The gun and scope both were bought off this very forum.

I just sent Remington an email with the highlights of the debate and asked for clarity. Will share if/when I get something back from them.......Murph

Ok, got the rifle the other day and emailed remington with the serial number. They emailed me back, and said the rifle was a Sendero model and that most of them were not marked on the gun, only the box.

Same here. I had an original Sendero in 7mm Rem. Mag. and it had a 24" barrel. Probably the most accurate out-of-the-box rifle I've ever owned. I'm still kicking myself for trading it. BTW, mine had Sendero stamped on the barrel.

Unless the barrel was cut it either wasn't a sendero or was a 26" barrel.

The original Senderos had 24" barrels. It wasn't until the 2nd or 3rd year they made them that they went to 26" barrels. Mine had either Sendero or Sendero Special stamped on the barrel and it was ordered new.
I actually called Remington when they went to 26" inch barrels and asked if I could still order one with a 24" barrel because I didn't care for the extra 2" of barrel. I later bought two varmint models with 26" barrels and had them cut down and re-crowned.

I recieved the email back from Remington this morning. The just of it is this. If it is an orginal 'Sendero' model 1994-2002 it should be marked as such. They also made a run of 'Sendero Special' that should also be marked. Basically all blued ones will be marked. They stopped putting the roll marks on the SF and SFII. The stainless fluted models will not have the mark. The blue should........Straight from the horses mouth......

Wow! I guess it just depends on who you talk to over there, because that is just the opposite of what they told me...

This should end some of the misinformation going on in this thread. This is a SF Sendero. It is stamped as such. I too, have a Sendero SFII and although it is not marked on the gun, it sure does say Sendero on the box. I keep all my boxes from all the guns I buy new for reasons such as this.

Great discussion on the Sendero rifles. I have one of the early Senderos in .270 that is like new. It is stamped "Sendero" on the gun.

There are in fact blue ones out there that are not stamped as well. I know because I owned one for awhile.

Everything else is pretty much word for word what I have been saying.

You got a pretty rare one right there. I have seen probably a hundred of the SF models over the years at gun stores and gun shows and that's the first I have ever seen with the roll mark. I figured there were some out there but that's the first I have ever seen. up

Sure is! I have seen a stainless fluted one at a gun show a couple if years back that had the roll mark. The guy told me it was a sf1 sendero.
