Not a lot of FREE hunting to be found around here. Probably gonna have to pay to hunt or hunt public land.

hog hunting is just another way ta make money. its why I started hunting public land. ya can still help out neighbors, hog numbers are down on the one I hunt.

What public lands within DFW have good hog populations? I hunt public land in Oklahoma mainly during deer seaqson, as I have my lifetime hunting and fishing licenses from Oklahoma. I bought them some 10-12 years ago before I moved to Texas. Now...just looking to do a little hunting on the side down here without spending an arm and a leg. No way I am throwing down $1,500 to hunt deer or lease land for a year. I am not made out of money, just like getting outdoors and out of the concrete jungle. Deer season is over already in Oklahoma. Got one deer...now just looking for a hog or two for freezer meat for cookouts at the house. If nobody has any they need disposed of, then I guess I will just buy it at the store...lol. Not as much fun that way, but just as effective...

You can get a Texas "Annual Public Hunting Permit" for about $50.00. You need to look through the maps to see where you can hog hunt and what weapons are legal in those areas.

Used to see some pigs when duck hunting at Cooper WMA. Think all that info is available at the TPWD website.

There is some spots up in Roanoke by lake grapevine that a few friends have gone to and had good luck. It's free but bow only. Also you can go to the grasslands in Decatur. Another buddy got a few last yr out there but they didn't seem overrun with them. I haven't been in state for the past year so I'm not sure how good the hunting is right now
