Took it out to break it in yesterday with my fingers crossed it would shoot good and targets at 1,3 & 465 yards.

Started out with WWB 147gr NATO FMJ, grouped 13 shots at 100 around 1.5"
Then tried them 300 and I shot the last 7 and was around 8". These were all shot with not too much focus, with no expectations of accuracy, but more of a break in and test of my ballistic calculations and scope tracking. I have to mention the scope and that it was great! 1/8 moa adjustments are tactile and precise, zero resettable and worked perfect for the few shots I adjusted for.

Then loaded up 3 175gr bthp from Silver State Armory and shot at 100, shot 1/4 higher than WWB and sub 1" group.
Adjusted for 300 and nailed the dead center of bullseye 1st shot. We had to walk down to verify because it blew out the little black 1/4" center square.

Next 3 175's went to the 465yd silhouette's head. I couldn't see with my eyes so we walked down and it was on the money.

Old picture of the range I used.

Other hits are from my buddy and his Saiga .308, mine are 3 in the group in the head, I only fired 3 rds before we had to go, I was content with them and went hm happy. laugh

Remington 5R Milspec 24"
Redfield Revenge 6-18x44 fine plex 1"
Weaver Tactical 20 moa base
Warne Maxima permanent rings

The setup is killer so far. Need more SSA ammo.
Thx

I've got the same rig in 300 win mag and it's awesome. I did have the bolt knob threaded and had a tac bolt knob installed. I also painted the stock. It's probably the best out of the box long distance rig that's at a reasonable price.

Thanks guys.

Can't wait to get back out there and hunt with it. I have a spot that will give me a 300yd shot to a feeder on my left and 4-500yd of open field on my right.

Very nice shooting and gun.

Where did you get the scope and how much did it set you back if you don't mind?

Great rifle. I have been shooting a 5R for several years and feel its one of the best 308's out there.
