Need help, looking for a new scope, just not sure which route to take. On a budget, trying to stay around the $200, any help?

Check SWFA for their refurbs. Maybe they will be a little cheaper.

Since the OP asked for advice ON A $200 SCOPE WHY ARE YA'LL SUGGESTING SCOPES THAT COST 2 & 3 TIMES THAT MUCH??? Yes a Zeiss conquest is a great scpe at $400 & SWFA has had a used one recently at a litle less than that BUT STILL NOT AT $200 OR LESS OR iI'D A BOUGHT IT MY OWN SELF!.
A good NIB $200+/- scope IMO is a Burris FF II 3x9x40, that Used in A grade - no ring marks no scratchs and near new in appearnace - SWFA Sample Lits price ought to cost about $150 and still have a Lifetime Warranty. Look at the SWFA Sample List for other ideas to. Several, other brands the same way but none I know with a 4" Ey Relief that he'll appreciate on a 30'06.
I'm using several Burris FF II's, one of which is a Greely Colorado made piece that's gotta be 25 years old or more when I got it 5 years ago used for $125, and has perfect glass and solid clean click dials, that has been on a on a 6 lb 270 for the last 5 years. I 've got another one that is on it's 5th rifle... 2 270's, 2 300Wmgs and now on a 9.3x62 Mauser which is one step smaller & less powerful than a 375 H&H and never had a blip out of it even though it's all acratched to crap from different sets of bad rings.
The OP needs to stay within his budget until he gets to know what the differences are between scope Features Advantages and Benefits...and why high priced scopes are priced as high as they are.
Otherwis why don't ya'l try and advise the OP to start with a $5000 Nighforce, Schmitt & Bender Tactical or at least a $3000 Swarovski Habicht when he asked for a $200 scope??? JMHO & YMMV Ron

Sorry to ruffle your feathers. I didn't realize the Conquest was that much. Just last year they were $299 for a 3x9 which is why I recommended it.

$200 is a tight budget, keep an eye on the SWFA and Cameraland sample lists, if the price is right and your not sure ask. SWFA shows a Leupold VariX IIc, that just sold for $179.99, that's the kind of deal you need to find.

Natchez Shooter's Supply has some Sightrons within your budget and still has the Nitrex TR One for less than $200. Also saw Elite 3200 Bone Collector for $169.

The $299 Conquests were a limited time close out of a model change from Cabella's and ??? as I remember. When Cabella's first adv'ed them you had to go to the store when they first opened @ 5-6am , stand in line outside and fight for a spot inside inline to get them for a limited quantity on hand. Later there were some sold On Line as well. Great Buy even with the new model upgrades that are the norm now.
I talked to some guys on an another channel that were buying them from Cabelas' all over the US and re selling them on the usual Auction sites on line. A neighbor bought 6 of them in Allen, and made $1-$200 each selling them at gun shows.
SWFA's Sample List and CameraLands Demos are the best places I know of to buy good stuff cheap, then EBay, Gun Broker sometimes or I'm told Amazon can be of interest. Doug had some ZA3 3x9x40 Minox demos couple weeks ago @ $149, but they are not the same quality as the ZA5's that are assembled in the US that were running $249 in a little bigger power range as I remember....but the ZA3's mebbe a better buy than bottom line Vortex.
4" Eye Relief is a big deal for me 'cause my stitch marks show more and more the older I get as my eyebrows thin out from Magnums with 3.2" Eye Relief scopes.
FWIW My feathers are never ruffled when respondents to an OP's questions are addressed with what info they have asked for.
I bought a Sightron S1 long time ago on EBay that was severely dented by an idjit that installed flip over scope rings bass ackwards for $40...dang cheap scope works great on non magnums and rimfires...and still has the Lifetime Warranty according to the lady in ?North Carolina I spoke with on the phone. I just never sent it in as it ain't broke yet....got a 7 1/2lb 300WSM that'll fix that soon enough though when it's time. Nice clear $129 avg retail scope and was bought for a 270 beater I traded off and couple 22lr's where it is now. Big Sky's are a good buy especially used.
Yup $200 is a tight budget and why I took the OP's question seriously. JMHO & YMMV Ron

I was just out at my shooting bench, checking zeros on several hunting rifles - all with different scopes and reticles. I have to say that I do have my favorites, but even my cheapest scope is quite clear and useable. The Leupold 4.5-14's are both great. The Burris FFII in 4.5-14 is great, and for half the price of the Leupolds. But the big surprise, every time I shoot it, is the Bushnell Legend 4-12 that's on the grandson's 308. I think I paid less than $150 for it at Bass Pro. It's really clear and sharp. And it holds zero year after year.
The point to all of this is that pretty much any of the "name" scope makers will provide you with a decent scope for an affordable price. Just get one that has a decent warranty...just in case.

Yes sir guys been seeing that. Everyone has there favorites and price ranges. I am gon.a stay within my range but hold off for now. With the holidags and such family is much more important than a new scope. If i can afford one after i will, if not i will save and keep looking.
Will take everyones advice and do very much appreciate the input. Again thank you guys and Merry Christmas.

I know its not a great scope....You can try a NC STAR shooter scope 6x24x50..For under $200 new in the box with rings.Ive had one on my remington 30x06 for two years now with no problems what so ever..I know some do not like NC STAR and thats ok..It has always worked for me and holds zero every single time..where I place the crosshair is just where the bullet hits..It is a good scope for the budget...

In keeping with that budget a redfield revolution will leave you some money left over for a couple boxes of ammo and probably wont disappoint you. I have one on a 270 and very satisfied

Need help, looking for a new scope, just not sure which route to take. On a budget, trying to stay around the $200, any help? In my opinion, "value" starts around the $350 mark and below that you are at risk of being disappointed in the longer term... However, there are some basic options that will be perfectly adequate for any stand hunting or still hunting at or around your price point. http://swfa.com/Burris-3-9x40-Fullfield-II-Rifle-Scope-P187.aspxhttp://swfa.com/Vortex-3-9x40-Crossfire-II-Rifle-Scope-P51736.aspxhttp://swfa.com/Nikon-3-9x40-Buckmaster-Riflescope-P42205.aspxhttp://swfa.com/Redfield-3-9x40-Revolution-Rifle-Scope-P44468.aspxThese will all have their limitations, but I've never been on a deer, moose, elk or hog hunt that any of the above wouldn't have been perfectly adequate. I own a Nikon Buckmaster and a Burris Fullfield. They're not crappy. My Buckmaster is a 4-14 power and it's actually pretty sharp at any quote-practical-unquote hunting range, but you really start to notice why it's priced like that if you look at something about 500 yards away.

Nikon Prostaff 3x9x50 that is what i have on my new 30-06 and love it. Wife paid $226 bucks at Bass Pro for it How is it in low light? Dusk, dawn, and moonlight? It works great in those situations which is why i wanted it. With my old set up i couldnt see very well, but with my Nikon Binos i could see deer at the feeders. The other day i sat in the blind till 625 pm which was well after legal shooting like but i could still see feeders and deer with it.. Best 200 bucks wife ever spent
