I was driving through Leakey last December, and stopped at the old movie theatre-now second hand/antique store. I asked the lady to recommend a place for lunch. She enthusiastically recommended Lala's. I went and had a delicious lunch....and told the owner that I has been sent by the lady at the old theatre. She replied "Yes, that was my mother.".

Opening weekend is sometimes considered a great time to drink too much and go to the stand late with a hangover, but not at Leakey. We go to the opening party given by Real County hunting association at the Baptist encampment.Good food prizes (I won $50) rifles are raffeled off talks by different people about hunting. I heard about Chicken Earls never tried it,he open only one day a week cooks all the chicken in leakey then shuts down for another week. What a town.

Bonnies Bakery has awesome buttermilk pies.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Lala's is excellent, Mama Choles is excellent and the Leakey Food Lot is the only place I have ever had Chicken Fried Bacon. It was an appetizer...you dip the strips in ranch dressing. Wow.

Mama Choloe's is always recommended and is not bad but we really like LaLa's too. An don't forget the biker hangout going west our 377. Broken Rim? It's the "Bent Rim" grill. When they open those garage type doors it's breezy and a great view of the hills. They make a mean burger too. Mama Choles is also one of my faves.

Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.
