Anybody have favorite Rifle that won't blow the intestines out of a raccoon, but still able to take down a Coyote with a Body shot?

Not a .243. Blasted a Coon last wk. Made a mess out of him.. a lot would depend on distance for the coyote... .17 hmr or .22 mag would do for close range..

Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians--except for the occasional mountain lion steak

I don't care about fur etc., so I use a 243.big enough round for almost anything in Texas.

.243 shooting 55 grain varmint bullet. Who cares about the pelt when it's more work than what it's worth!
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

You can use about any caliber you want, it is really about the projectile and the speed. Just pick a match grade non-expanding bullet if you don't want to blow out the coon and use whatever you want for the coyote. I can shoot a coon with my .308 with a sierra match king in 168gr and it will put a hole about the size of a #2 pencil going in and out. Or I can shoot one with my .223 with a 55gr nosler ballistic tip and make an exit hole you can put your fist in. Pick the gun you like and get the rounds to suit your needs. As long as you go centerfire, you can get or make about any round you want.

I shoot lots of different rifles but my favorite all around is a 223 with 60gr BT, nosler usually because of the bulk packs. Killed a few deer, many hogs and lots of other critters with it. Doesn't usually make too big a mess on anything over half grown coon size. It will destroy a small coon though.
