So we hunted with Buck Brown in Seldovia, AK Friday-Sunday. Temps were warmer in Seldovia than in Austin. We hit the 40s!This is the most beautiful place on earth. The hunt was awesome. We got every species we wanted to get mounted except for a white wing scoter. I shot two immature drakes and left many more with sore ases. Those things are fast and hard to kill. The first day we hunted on the edge of the water on rock formations. We were hunting Harlequin and scoter. After we got all our Harlequin and common scoter we headed back into the local bay. We finished up hunting goldeneye. I finished the day with a nice common and barrow Goldeneye. Daniel got a nice bufflehead. The second day we hunted in a floating blind in the middle of a bay. Saw tons of scoter, harlequin, goldeneye and a few oldsquaw. We got 16 birds out of the floating blind. We got back to the ramp and took pictures and as we were separating the birds I noticed the band on the surf scoter. We were not 100% sure who got it so we flipped for the band. The pics of the info are below. On the third and last day we went after our Oldsquaw. We finally got one each and finished up on Goldeneye where Daniel shot his nice common. This was truly the trip of a lifetime. Anyone wanting to go on an Alasak sea duck hunt give Buck a call. Hes a great guide and really know the area and the birds. I cant wait to go back to Alaska. Enjoy the pics.

This was headed out of Homer to Seldovia on the water taxi!

This is Seldovia across the bay we were hunting on the last day.

Buck setting out decoys.

Heres the floating blind.

Heres the floating blind from the road into Seldovia from the ramp.

Beautiful country. Majority of the birds would probably buzz straight through and I wouldn't even notice due to all the other amazing scenery and wildlife.

Don't know that I could ever afford it but I really hope I can. That looks like it was an AWESOME hunt! I have been to all the states except Hawaii and Alaska, Hawaii seems cool but Alaska is a must go for me. I'm just afraid I won't want to leave...

Actually taste really good. The common scoters are truly the best birds I've ever eaten. Close first with bbwd.

We skinned the birds we were mounting while we were there and pan seared them in olive oil with salt and pepper. Truly as good as any steak. I believe it's because the feed mostly on mussels, chitons, and small crabs.
