I went out last weekend and only saw one hog.I hunted Monday and today with very little(none) movement. Is it better to hunt in the afternoon?10pm-3pm?

It seems to be better late evening to me.

The best time to hunt, is anytime you can be out there.

Ain't nothing going to be killed if no one is out there ready to do the killing.

With all that out of the way, it probably is better to hunt the 4 or 5 hour stretch between 10 and 3.

Several supposed experts in the past have done surveys and the majority of bigger bucks killed were killed during that time frame.

Do not if the folks doing the surveys took moon phase into account. JMO.

If you follow the belief that the moon has an effect on when deer feed, it would be during the middle of the day.

The belief is that wild animals and fish prefer to feed around a two-hour period whenever the moon is highest in the sky, and then roughly 12-1/2 hours later. A full moon always rises just after sunset and reaches it's peak in the sky around 12am or midnight, a major feeding time. A minor feeding period occurs around noon on the following day.

10-1 has been good to me

I plan on staying as long as I can this weekend. The moon is still big and bright right now.

About midnight. . I have done the noon to 6 thing and only saw a bobcat at about 12:30. Yote about 5.

if u break it into 2 hunts I'd say hunt daylight til 9 then noon to dark, or maybe daylight til noon and 2 til dark, if you need to get out of the stand, it really depends on weather too...

I usually break it up into several sections. The normal daylight to 9, then take a break, 10-2, then a break, 4- dusk. Keeps things a little more fresh. I also try to changer stands.

Saw alot of bucks chasing does today from 9am to 11am, nothing before 9. One mature nine, prolly 3.5 ten, and the rest were young bucks, saw bucks this afternoon chasing after 5:30pm

If they're in the rut, it shouldn't matter that much but (sounding like a cliche) anytime you can get out there is the best time.

Pray for clouds...but seriously, I'd have to say around noonish is the common consensus i've heard. I honestly don't think I have had to much luck hunting during full moon periods. Then again, maybe I'm not hunting hard enough.

Best time to hunt during a full moon is generally around mid day based on solunar tables and active feeding times. This is not to say that there will not be any deer at the feeders because many "feeder hogs" just can't pass up a handout.

Last year, I had good luck with deer coming in straight up 2:30p during a full moon. This year, they've been coming in late. Right at or after the end of shooting light. I sat on stand yesterday from up to down and didn't see any after up.

what ever time the moon is high at night be in the blind at least 12 hrs later. i know it sounds crazy but it works.

Waning Gibbous Moon so it's going to be afternoon/evening hunt for sure!

Be on stand when a full moon is rising in the afternoon.

If your trying to plan you hunts around the moon or solunar tables, you might be just as effective choosing your hunting times on the advice of a fortune teller or you might try having your palms read, or better yet, there's always the tarrot cards.

All kidding aside, deer will get up & move when they feel like it. Weather patterns and rutting behavior have much more to do with deer movement than the moon does. Generally speaking, those who can sit in a stand all day will see more deer than those who only hunt a few hours at a time. If I don't see any deer early, then I'll stay in the stand longer if I can. I often see deer start to move around as late 1:00 or 2:00 pm. But, if I see deer move around early, then I'll get out of the stand earlier. As was mentioned ealier, the best time to hunt is when you can, and for as long as you can.

I don't know about the best time to hunt in a full moon. I've always heard that with a full moon, the deer feed all night long and take advantage of the light. The biggest buck I've ever seen on my hunting place was about 1:00 in the afternoon. I was bringing my son to the blind when we got close to the feeder and looked up to see an big 8 point on it. Took us all by surprise. I'm going to give the mid day hunt a go this year and see what happens. I've set my feeder to throw out 10 seconds of corn at 11:00 a.m. We'll see what happens.
