He enjoys shooting animals in a fence they can't jump over, I prefer free range. He feels his friends on Faceboook should know what he's doing day in and day out, I believe they couldn't give 2 craps. He gets upset when he offers a hunt to me and I turn it down because I refuse to hunt that same fence. But here's his latest, 232 unofficial according to him

Eh to each their own. I don't mind hi fences, but don't like the idea of breeder deer, ear tags brought in genetics etc.

Its a big deer but possibly like you I attribute it more to a science project than a hunt.

Its a big one.

Great buck! Think he's got some red stag in his line somewhere. lol

I've hunted both HF and LF, and they each have their own qualities that appeal to me. Props to dad for being able to do what makes him happy. up

I agree with you, won't hunt under a deer under high fence and I used to outfit a 5,000 acre HF ranch. I have no problem with someone shooting a deer in a HF for it is legal.
That is a nice buck that Pop killed and if he is proud, so am I.
Adios,
Gary

Nice deer. I always find it funny when people try to defend the harvesting of breeder deer and deer with eartags. They try to say its hunting, but yet they turnaround and post deer "FOR SALE" and post pictures of the deer and their measurements. Its more like shopping the Sears Catalog than huting. hammer

I'm not trying to judge, I just find a lot of hummor in it. I suppose if I had the means to participate in it that I might see it more seriously.

This argument never ceases to amaze me. If a person chooses to hunt a deer in "HF", it does not make him any less a hunter than those hunting "free range". Just as a hunter that uses and rife is no less skilled than one choosing only to hunt with a bow. It comes down simply to preference. Add up expenses between what those leasing free range spend annually vs those going on a guided HF hunt and you won't see a huge difference. Yes, I guide at a HF ranch. Is my personal preference to hunt HF for myself, no. Are there "canned hunts" out there, you bet. Is every high fence place unfair chase to the animal, absolutely not. We have one pasture no bigger than 1500 acres we hunt whitetails in. 2 deer wounded this year that have yet to be found, after 4 helicopter searches and numerous hours on foot. At some point, they will be located. My whole point here is lets not look down our noses at those that choose to hunt in HF like their harvest is unethical or less skilled. just my rant....

Think you can/Think you can't/Either way you're right
