I have a Browning A-Bolt 7mm Magnum that I got an unfinished Boyd's stock for. I just got done with a 100% tung oil finish on it and I'm very happy with how it turned out. I'm going to glass and pillar bed the action but want to have it Cerakoted first. My plan all along has been to have it done in Graphite Black, the scope base and rings too. I have a matte Leupold VX3 that is going on it, so I thought that this would look good. I had never really considered other colors of Cerakote until recently looking at some pretty cool pictures. Some with the scopes done too. I'm open to this idea but I have no experience with it and I don't have a very good imagination when it comes to this stuff. Please tell me what you think would look good with this stock. Thanks!!!

The flat black would likely look pretty good. A flat dark brown wouldn't be bad either imo.

I second the nomination of black. A flat finish would look good, but I'd consider a semi=gloss color too. That almost-natural-walnut stock color cries out for a traditional metal color.

On second thought, a subdued grayish silver finish might look pretty good too.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'm still leaning toward the black. But I think brown or a greyish color would be cool too. I'm think I'm not done thinking about this yet!

Go get it hydro dipped in carbon fiber and paint racing stripes on it. One fat one, one skinny. That'll make it shoot at LEAST 200 fps faster. Guaranteed

Thanks again for the ideas. I'm going to go by and see Christian at Scalpel Arms and see if we can figure something out.

Burnt Bronze would look sweet in that stock.

That's what I'm leaning towards. The stock has a lot of bronze-ish color in it that's kind of hard to see in the pic. I'm just waiting for Leupold to send the scope back after making a repair and then I'll head over to see Christian.

If I go with something like Burnt Bronze would you get the scope done too, or would that be too much? I can kind of see it either way. I'm going to do the base no matter what. Just not sure about the rings and scope.

Either way will be fine however, if you dont do the scope it may look oddball to the rest of the rifle and really stand out. Its like seeing a black scope on a stainless rifle. I personally would coat it too. Just make **** sure you are going to keep that scope on that rifle.
