Talk about an awesome bloodtrail. I was very pleased with my two blade rage at thirty yards!

I was suprised that it cut through three ribs! Even though it was a doe i was very proud, its probably the 5th deer i have ever killed with my bow and def the farthest!

I shot one quartering to me at 35 yards a couple of weeks ago with the rage. Left a nasty hole. I've heard lots of positives and lots of negatives about them. I even had a couple of bad experiences with them myself a coupe years back, but they seem to do the trick out of my current setup.

I have not had any trouble recovering game when using the two blade or three blade Rage heads, my only complaint is that I did not get a pass through on either deer and the head was totaled after one use. It actually bent the cutting blade at the tip on both shots so there were useless. The other problem I have with them is the O-Ring becomes cracked and useless very quickly and they are a beyotch to replace. I got one use out of my first set and had to replace the O-rings on the two remaining heads within 3 months. I have switched to the Tru-Fire Switchblades and have only a single complaint so far and that is that they whistle while in flight. It really doesn't matter as it still does not give the target time to react but a little something to get used to. http://www.trufire.com/broadhead_guide.htmlThe Rage heads work and work well, as long as they are not touched by anything while in the field and you keep replacing the o-rings.

I was shooting a much slower bow than I am now and did not get a pass thru at 20 yards on a hog and a doe. The doe I finally realized that I had made a bad shot and hit her in the void between her spine and vitals and she lived. the hog I never recovered. Now I am shooting a much faster bow thus producing more kinetic energy and have had no issues with a pass thru. I agree with another poster about the heads getting trashed after you shoot one, but I rarely reuse heads anyways. I don't think there is a single broadhead on the market that someone doesn't have a bad experience with, but on the positive side there are just as many folks that love the way they work. If you look hard enough you can find something that you don't like about em all.

Congrats on the Doe and looks like you made a pretty good shot. I'm sure your old man showed you how to get'r done.
I'm taking Evan down between Sonora and Del Rio this weekend to see if he can get his first buck. Only a 2 day hunt so maybe we'll find that cull were looking for and not have to deny him on all the young 6 & 8 pts. that like to show up at feeding time. Maybe I'll see you at the game Thursday. Congrats Again, Steve

I've got a .243 that I killed my first deer with and actually Evan and Christine both have already taken their first Doe with this gun. Evan killed 2 doe in about an hour 2 years ago at this same place we're going and last year he missed a buck at about 150 yds. at this same place. He was a lil' more excited last year after having killed the doe and having the expectation of killing a buck. We were hunting on MLD permits and actually me, Melanie, Evan and Chris were all in a big tower blind in February last year. He was a bit disappointed in himself until I told him that I have missed deer alot closer than the ones he was shooting and that you don't become a good hunter without missing. He's ready to go, I think he likes riding the 4 wheelers and the campfire as much as the hunting. Then again, I'm right there with him, the hunt almost becomes secondary to the cutting up and having a good time with friends. Take Care and I will be looking for you Thursday. GO BEARCATS!!

I shot a 300 pound pig quartering away with a money shot and the dang thing got away. Since then I use Muzzy's for big pigs and 2 blade rage for medium to small pigs and deer. With a Rage I just aim a bit behind the shoulder blade and I get a dead animal every time.
