I have had 2 surgeries on my right arm over the last 10 years..shoulder to be specific..I can't take my citori's pounding at the range very well and want a good all around skeet, dove, duck gun...I think I am on the right track...Here is the two I believe would be best for me, but I haven't gotten to shoot either..First choice is the A400 extreme...second is an SX2...I know they (sx2) have mixed reviews, but there is about a 600 dollar difference in the two...I can afford the Beretta..is it worth the difference, or should I just simplify and find an older 1100 and be done with it? Does the A400 really shoot with less perceived recoil? I can't seem to find anyone around Tyler with one to shoot...any advice will be greatly appreciated..

I would think the Beretta with the kick off system would do well for you.

Is there any way to know which years and what to pay for an 1100?? I just don't want a dud or to pay too much..I had an 1100 years ago, and just remember changing O-rings more than I thought was reasonable...but I shot a lot back then and my arms weren't about to fall off, so I don't even remember recoil...I really like the A400 extreme though...I am going to try to find one to shoot, and the SX3...like the back bored design...and price, but I don't want to run from price to get burned by less than great dependability.

The A400 is an excellent choice. The Browning Gold, is a pretty soft shooter as well. I hunted with one for about 5 years...my brother has been using it for the past 11 years.

I will look into it...I am going to take my time...no need to rush out and buy a gun way more expensive than I can justify...but I do love that Beretta on all counts..Thanks for the input everyone. Keep it coming, as I don't have my mind made up at all...need to just go hang at the range and see what I might get to shoot.

A deal on a gun that you don't really like isn't a deal. It sounds like you really want the Beretta. Save your money, then buy the Beretta.

I likely will...its not like I have to rush out and get one to be ok, but I just sold a citori and a win 101 so It isn't like I can't get it now. I just don't want to go blow 1700 bucks to get the latest and greatest, only to find I actually can't tolerate any of them...I need to shoot one repeatly..any one of them, just to test my tolerance..I am worried that my shooting will be with low recoil only..we shall see...I found some excellent pricing on the a400...under 1550..plus tax..

I would get an 1100 or 1187 in 20 gauge. I have killed just as many ducks with a 20 gauge as a 12 in the last couple of years, and cannot remember the last dove I shot with a 12.
Any of the semi auto 20s that weigh more than 6 lbs are very tame to shoot and based on your requirements that is what I would look for, just my 2 cents...

The Remington Versa Max has less felt recoil than any of the ones mentioned so far, but it also weighs a bit more than the others if that's a concern.

I sold my 101 20ga O/U...I just seem to like my 12's likely due to my less than stellar practice habits...but I am open to anything that works...I am likely going with the a400..found a direct dealer that will put me in one fairly cheap with the kick off stock...

My 11-87 Premier light contour is the lightest shooting auto I have ever shouldered.

Get the berretta, actually i would look for 391 your gkids will be shooting it. Not trying to offend but the rest are at best unreliable and some are flat crap. Pm me for detailed discusion why.
