not to sure on silver labs, but my black lab sheds a good deal. I do have dark carpet, however, it's hard to see. Weekly vacuuming with the arm and hammer pet powder does the trick.

I'm plenty aware of the shed factor. I just heard rumor the silvers don't. I know there is alot of controversy with silvers to begin with after some reading. I couldn't find any thing on shedding

That is BS. A lab is a lab and a silver is just a chocolate lab with a weird color tint.

I chuckled when I read the title of the post. Couldn't wait to get in here and see what hornet nest could be stirred up. A little disappointed to say the least. But I do give you an A+ for effort.

Of course they shed and blow their coat twice a year like all labs. I think the only dog that might not shed is the american hairless terrier. Or a chupacabra.

You would have to google Weimaraner, that would give you more accurate information....

Silver labs shed. If you're looking for a working dog you should probably look elsewhere. There is weimaraner in the woodpile and all of the selection has been for color rather than temperment and working ability. Just my opinion, but a silver lab isn't really a lab.

The only field breed I know of that is supposed to be shed free is the American Water Spaniel. They say they don't shed but I find that hard to believe. They probably just shed a lot less than most dogs.
Look into them they are great little gun dogs, good retrievers and as I said supposed to be hypoallergenic (if that's possible).

Trained one a few years ago for w client. Yes they do shed. If I recall this one actually shed more than any other dog in the kennel that year. Constantly had the furminator after him.

maybe try a Pudlepointer if you can find one... Not 100% but I remember several people telling me the poodle in them keeps them from shedding, or at least shed very little. If you go that route, get an authentic german bloodline with papers. most domestic ones are housedogs at best.

I like dogs that shed! Never had one that didn't! Don't buy a dog/puppy because of the color or whether the shed or not! Buy a dog out of a pair that hunts/retrieves and train them....then hope for the best. And if the dog turns out....puts birds in the bag...your are a blessed hunter!

Ridgebacks don't shed. At least only a little.
