My grandpa and I were sitting in the blind this morning and we somehow got onto the topic our first ducks/first hunting experiance. My first was a Greater Scaup, caught live by the dog. Thinking it was a cripple we told the dog to drop it and when she did the bird took off. In a snap I shouldered my Youth 20ga 870 and before I knew it, the bird was belly up on the water with both legs running in place. If you don't count that my next was a mallard drake. Lets hear your story!

Decided to start duck hunting with two buddies about 6 years ago. We had no idea what we were doing but thought we'd enjoy it. Walked into a public spot, ended up having the wind in our face with a bunch of trees behind us. Action was real slow most of the morning, then before we knew it a flock of teal came over those trees and tried to light in the decoys. After a few shots 3 green wing teal drakes were down.

That started my addiction

My buddy and I used to camp on his dad's property when we were little. One time we were camping for the weekend and got hungry so we decided to go kill a rabbit. Ended up jumping 5 gaddies on a pond and knocked down 3. We had no idea what to do with them so we plucked the feathers and spit roasted them over the fire like you see in the movies. We even used packets of salt we found in the 4wheeler to season them. Ended up being one of the best camp meals I ever had! Couldn't have been much older than 13 at the time.

Cinnamon Teal Drake Colorado, 1979. Wish I had a picture. Shot it off the drainage ditch behind my house with a 410 single shot.

Wood duck out of flooded cypress brake. A good day hunting then was seeing more than 15 ducks and firing the gun at least once.
