If you've seen my other posts, I've been after this 6 pointer all year. Thought for a while he was dead as I hadn't seen him since opening day.


Took my daughter on a spur of minute hunt yesterday afternoon and at 5:15 she says, "there's a deer". I can't see him and she says "its a buck!!!" When I finally see him I knew exactly who he was. I tell her "Thats the 6 point I've been after". She says "Can I shoot him?" "Of course you can!!"
I'm trying to get it on video so I'm holding her off with her trying to make me hurry it up. I notice he's about to go down in the creek and be gone so I give up on the camera and tell her to shoot him. I just knew he was going to run into the creek and we'd be trying to find a blood trail in the dark but she hit that sweet spot right above the front shoulder and it was just like you see on TV, his head went up, his back legs went limp and he dropped right there. Dead before he hit the ground and never flinched. She screamed, I screamed, she said she thought she was going to cry. Best day in the woods so far for me. I've still never shot a buck that wasn't a spike and I may never get to now. She may never let me go by myself again.

Second, I remember you posting those pics awhile back and you hunt near me. Here is the one I shot last year. He was a 6 for years then grew the 7th point last year. The brows curve inward the same and notice how the main beams are shaped the same.

I really wondered what he might look like next year and really thought about letting him walk. But we just have way too many 6 pointers that look like him that we can't get rid of. He's been gettin busy over the last 2-3 years. Plus after having to hold my daughter back on shooting immature bucks, bucks that weren't legal, does just for the heck of it, I couldn't put her off any longer. She missed out on a couple of really nice 8 points last week, we were just a tad bit to slow on the trigger.
