I gradually torque and loosen the base screws, making them tighter every time I tighten them down until they meet the spec for inch pounds needed.
I don't like using loc-tite and it drives me CRAZY when I find a rifle where they have used RED loc-tite on it.
NEVER used Loc-tite & NEVER had a ring or base come loose.

Sounds good. I recently had some Leupold rings come loose after having torqued them to spec- never happened before so it made me wonder...

After missing the buck of a lifetime due to loose mount screws I now blue loc-tite everything.

I use a trick an old time gunsmith taught me. I use a very small dab of clear silicone sealer on each screw. The sealer stays flexible and is easy to remove but holds the screw very securely. A very small tube of sealer lasts a very long time if sealed tightly after use. I also find that Torx screws hold tighter on their own than regular slot head screws.

I admit to using blue Loc-tite on a couple of my rifles. May not matter but it makes me feel better...

Yes. I use the purple thread locker and torque to spec on my rings and bases.

If you put the tiniest dab of silicone sealer on the screw threads and then tighten them to specs (or around 20"-lb) the screws will not loosen, IME, but can easily be removed with your screwdriver or allen wrench. On my big-recoiling rifles, I also smear a sheen of silicone on the inside curve of the ring, where the ring contacts the scope. This little bit of sealer will keep your scope from moving forward in response to recoil. I don't have any Loc-tite anywhere in my gun room. If I need something along those lines--say, to secure a trigger adjustment screw--I tend to use a drop of Super glue. And while we're on it, JB Weld does a good job as a skim bedding compound for your synthetic stocks.

I use blue Lok-tite. I have a question, though, about checking them randomly? Isn't there a chance of changing the torque from where it was when zeroed and throwing everything off? I don't touch a ring screw with anything but a cleaning rag unless I'm removing the scope.

Why can't you adjust the power just because of the wrong rings? Is it so low the power bezel won't turn?

Na the rings are too wide and I had to slide one all the way back against the power adjust to make it fit so its got it pinched tight lol.. It sited in just fine and seriously will cut holes at 100yrds.. I just cant fix something that aint broke

I use blue Lok-tite and I'm a believer. Had the toughest time keeping zero with a 30-06. Once I put the Lok-tite on the screws and rings, I never had another problem.

I use blue on the base, and tighten the rings to torque.

Torque to spec and recheck once or twice a year. Never have needed to tighten but I can't help but check occasionally.
