I have an little girl that is turning 8. She goes hunting with me all the time and has shown some interest in using a bow. What is a good youth bow to start out with that she will more than likely be able to pull back. I am looking for mainly just a target practice bow but maybe have enough power for her to stick a pig or a javelina. I am not a bow hunter and just use a rifle so I don't know a whole lot about these things. Any advice maybe from you guys that have kids that shoot would be great. Brand name, model and maybe a general ball park price. Thanks

My Cousin just got a PSE Rally youth bow and has plenty of room to grow into it.

Mission Craze is a really nice bow. My wife shoots one and loves it. it is adjustable in draw weight and length so it will be able to be used for a long long time. its a great target or hunting bow and a great way for her to learn to use a bow and build up strength enough to draw enough weight to hunt with.

The mission craze is the way to go. My 7yr old daughter loves hers. You can adjust length and weight very easy. You will be able to keep her in that same bow for several years. Good luck and congrats on the future hunter

Hoyt Ruckus, Bear Aprentice, mission mentioned above, Diamond, And Parker all have youth specific bows and all are good bows. The Bear and the Hoyt are pretty cool little bows. My Mom is 5' and she shoots the Hoyt.

I got my 8yr old a Craze last Christmas and he loves it. Very simple to adjust draw length and weight and he was putting them in the kill zone on almost every shot last weekend. The problem is convincing him to stop when he gets tired and starts into bad habits.

My daughter just turned 9- she's pretty petite. I bought her an Atomic and she loves it. We couldn't be more pleased. It is very adjustable so she can develop muscle memory and technique at lower draw weights and then be increased to hunting weights as she develops the strength.

The thrill is in the hunt, but maximized by success. You define success.

I bought my 8 year old boy the Mission Craze by Matthews this year. Great bow for the money and my son loves it!

I just bought the Diamond Infinite Edge today from Cabela's......not for my kids but for me! LOL

I am just now getting back into bow hunting and I thought this would be a good bow for me to shoot until I upgrade and my 7 year old can grow into it. We set it at 70# and I shot it about 30 times today at Cabela's and it is smooth, quite, and fast. up

Thanks everyone fire their input. I took her to get fitted for one and she is in between a slightly larger bow that would last her forever and the smaller youth bows. The one that fit her best was the bow tech atomic. Fireflyandrew, she is real petite too and this bow was perfect for her. The guys at bass pro were great with working with her to fit her just right. I appreciate the help.
