A friend of mine works in security and is about to move to Australia. He can't take the gun with him and he owes me some money so he is going to give me the gun to sell or I am thinking I may just keep it. I don't know much about these guns so I was wondering about what to look out for or what problems these guns have. I think it has never been fired so that is first on my to do list is to make sure the gun goes bang. All I really know about it is its the 4" service model.
Any help or comments is greatly appreciated!

About 450-500 brand new. Overall it is a decent handgun. Shouldn't have any issues in getting it to go bang. I don't have much more advice than that.

There is nothing to look for, and nothing to worry about. XD's are good for 10000+ rounds before you have any issues. It should go bang everytime, with any type of ammo.

There's a recall on the XDS, so yours doesn't fall into that category.

Honestly, nothing to look for problem wise. Go shoot the pee pee out of it and enjoy.

I've owned 4 of these now and still love them. As those before me have stated it shouldn't have any issues, just shoot it. You will get great use out of it and it should go bang EVERY time. Out of 4 pistols and thousands of rounds I still haven't had one FTF/FTE.

Thanks for the replies. I did watch a few YouTube videos and most of the reviews were good. A few of the XD vs Glock comparisons were interesting. I think it will pan out fine.

I put roughly 25,000 rounds through mine before i sold it during the craze. I bought a G35. Hard to beat either one.

I got the pistol yesterday. It feels good in my hand and fits really well. Not really sure why some people put grips on this gun, it feels really good already. Anyway, I can't wait to take it to the range and pop a few off.
Thanks again for your comments!
