Started off nice. We had a group of 5 on a public hunting spot on post. 3 of us went out early to hold the spot and set up while the other two brought us breakfast.lol there was a group in front of us and a group behind us. About 15 minutes prior to shooting time you know how everyone likes to loosen up them throat muscles and let out a few quacks to make sure everything still works right. After a couple of my guys let a few quacks out nothing crazy the group behind us started calling. Let me tell u this, it was no duck call those guys were blowing. It was something else. It was a one note high pitched something or other. They didn't stop calling until we left. We may or may not have screamed, threw rocks, and everything else besides shooting at these guys to get them to shut the hell up. And they were shooting at ducks at about 120 yards and peppering us. I was furious to say the least. So we packed up threw all our crap in our trucks and started leaving. On our way out we passed the other group. They asked for our help because they got there truck stuck. So we of course helped them out.......for the next 2 hours with four trucks. They had sunk an f250 almost to the frame. We ended up having to use two trucks at the same time and jerk that big bastard out. On top of all that I drive a 97 silverado with a 9" lift and 35 inch mud tires. I should have pulled him right out. Until I got into position and my 4x4 wouldn't engage! So add that to the list of expenses. What a happy thanksgiving! lol and we only pulled out with one gadwall drake.

Your experience on the "Hood" is exactly why I avoid it like a STD! There are much better public places that you do not have to worry about being CLOSED 24 hours before your hunt. You must have been a miracle worker to pull that duck! I hope your 4X4 is not a major fix.
