Hey guys and/or gals. Looking for updates as far as movement and the rut in Eastland county. I am in the far Southwest close to the county line and will be in the blind the next 4 days. Let's hear how things are going or not going right now in Eastland county. As always, thanks. Hunt happy and hunt safe, Frank.

I hunt in central Eastland county and have seen more movement all year and recently than I have in past years.....but that may not be saying a whole lot. That being said: it seems like it has picked up a lot since the cold front started to blow out and the rut. There are guys who hunt right around me in which one has "feasted" but the other one has "famined".

Don't know what to tell you. We hunt on the Comanche/Eastland boarder and have seen lots of deer but no big bucks that we had on camera. Kept waiting for the rut but have only seen the smaller buck pushing doe. Not sure if we missed the rut, we have been out there alot and usually the rut is the 1 or 2 week in November.

There is a lot of pressure here and we are an AR county as well. I have the "luxury" of hunting on my own land but not sure it's such a "luxury" at times. Since it is family land we shoot what is legal so it is very difficult to "manage". I remember a post about some of folks' biggest bucks and most were 130" deer. That said, I think we have an average amount of deer and average deer for that matter. I was in Cabela's a few years back and remember seeing a brag board. The board was full and 12/20 bucks were from Eastland county or neighboring counties. In no way am I saying that Eastland county rivals the panhandle or south Texas but we do alright here in Eastland county.

Sounds about right, we have taken two bucks in the 130's the last 5 years. We try and let the young bucks walk but hearing the guys across the creek yell and holler when they shoot sure makes you wonder what they are blasting away at...

So that's y'all....? I wondered if my neighbors across the creek were THF members.

Here are a few pics of a nice 8 point. I have a younger 8 that I will probably pass on.

These were taken on my cam starting from a few days ago. Got skunked by 2 hogs on the way to one of my feeders today.

I've been hunting in Eastland County since 1989 (near Ranger). Historically the rut is at it's peak about this time. From what I have seen lately that appears to still be holding true. Last Saturday had 12 deer in front of me. Three bucks (one mature 9, 2.5 yr. old 8 and a yearling buck) were mildly interested in the does. Then one doe came in and two of the bucks started in after her. I think it would be fair to say that there will be some rut activity this weekend. Good luck!
