There was a line at the blood bank today and all appointments are booked for tomorrow. Pray for this young man. I don't know him but he is well liked and has had a pretty rough life already.

Wow, what a terrible accident. Hope he gets the help he needs and makes a full recovery.
Prayers sent.

THE WOODS HAS MUCH TO OFFER TO THE HUMAN SOUL! Genesis 27:3 Now then, get your equipment--your quiver and bow--and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.

It sounds like that was a pretty significant injury and he's likely to experience some reduction in his future quality of life, but he'll pull through and he'll go hunting again. A .223 in the same spot would have killed him before his friends could get him to the hospital.
Apparently the local blood drive produced over 250 units on the first night so I think he'll be taken care of. There is more than enough blood to meet his needs, but what the family was asking for was actually some financial relief from the cost of the blood. When you donate, you get a credit. If you've donated, for example, 100 units and you are later in a car accident and require 100 units of blood in the trauma center, then that blood is free of cost for you. If you never donated, then that blood will be really expensive. By getting all these people to donate and assign their credits to McCall Miller, the family has been relieved from a portion of an already enormous medical bill. In that respect, you could probably donate from Longview, Pecos, Amarillo or McAllen and still assign your credit to McCall Miller, regardless of your blood type.
