I'm dead set on my next rifle purchase being chambered in 25-06. I'm leaning toward a Rem 700 but this seems worth looking into. I just can't seem to find any info. I think it's a Cabela's exclusive edition like the Tecomate. Any reviews would be appreciated. Thanks http://www.cabelas.com/product/SAKO-A-VARMINT-RIFLES/1672794.uts

FWIW, I handled an A7 Varmint in .243 at my local Cabelas and liked it very much.

Looks like a good gun. For the caliber you want that would probably be a very solid rifle. Appears much better than any Remington products out

My 270 tears a ragged hole with 130 grain VLDs. BUT that gun is over priced for what it is. Cabelas slaps a decent stock on it and marks it up about $400-$500. You'd get way more gun for the money if you threw in a couple more hundred and bought a model 85 or just found a stainless A7 for about $700-800. I paid $725 for mine and it looks brand new. If you like it go for it though, you won't be disappointed.

Glad to see you ordered one wingem. You will think you've died and gone to heaven. Did you by chance mess around with the set trigger when you looked at them? It's scary.

I can't get past the way that bolt throw feels. That gun, while it IS a little expensive is gonna be a nice shooter once you feed it the right stuff I bet! You can carry that thing everywhere too. I expect a full range report when you get it! Please and thank you sir!

I've been shooting heavy barrel .25-06 rifles for 35+ years and I couldn't be happier. I started with a late '70's Ruger 77v and now Remington Sendero. I owned the Ruger when I lived in Wyoming and I killed elk, deer, and antelopes and never felt undergunned. I used 117-120 gr bullets for deer and antelope and the now discontinued 125 gr Barnes for elk.
My Sendero has opened my eyes to lighter bullets. A friend gave me a box of Federal Premiums with the 100gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and the Remington fell in love. It will shoot ragged one hole groups with boring regularity and it makes most animals act as if they'd been struck by lightning.
You might read other opinions that this animal or that animal is too tough for the "little" .257 bullet. It has been my experience if you shoot your rifle enough those animals aren't so "tough" when they're shot right. I don't think I've ever had any animal take more than five steps when the bullet was placed properly.
Just my NSHO, YMMV, Will

You cannot go wrong with a Sako.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Look around find someone with a stainless fluted Sendero. My buddy found a guy in Mn about 3 yrs ago that had 3 new in the box. He gave $1000, and never regretted it. It shoots 100 gr Barmes in 5 shot dime groups.

I have a Conquest 3-9x40 Z-600 on a 300WSM, and I've been wanting to get a 4.5-14x44 on the 300WSM so will use the 3-9x40 on the 25-06. Thing is I have a nilgai hunt in a couple of weeks and the 300wsm is coming with so I don't want to mess with the setup till after that hunt.
